The Qu'ran would burn much more beautifully. It's all about the ink. By the way GC, you're mistaken.....again.

What an appallingly ignorant and arrogant thing to say,not to mention untrue. You may believe such to the point of personal certitude, but you KNOW no such thing. I'd better stop here lest I say something very unkind.

Honestly though fellas, books don't burn very well without accelerant...they smolder.

Knowledge? Yes.
Bibles and korans? That's a tougher sell.

If that were the case, would destroying all copies of the Illiad be ok? The Bible/Koran does provide a indirect glimpse into the world of those who wrote them, which actually does provide a somewhat useful purpose... It may actually be the biggest single collection of "early" human literature in existence.

Same here Alei!
@ GC you really need to get a life mate. I doubt anyone here supported whatever that bloke was / is. As far as I can remember many were of the opinion that he / she was just another stupid theist.

You're really sensitive these days Padraic. Pay attention ... I made no statement, I asked a question and I don't think a genuine question can be either arrogant or ignorant ...it's a QUESTION. Honestly, most often the people who find simple questions appalling are religious assholes afraid of thought and open discussion. Furthermore, I made my position already clear in post #19 so I'm not sure why you're so butt hurt over a very simple thread.
Also, as long as you're going to be testy you might as well be unkind. I can take it.

I guess you can go ahead and burn a Bible or a Quran if you really need to release your anger that way. But, other than that, I don't see any positive effects that can come out of doing such a thing. And if you do it, then you shouldn't do it in front of others because they will obviously know that you're burning them just to make them feel offended (which is going to put you in a bad light). So, I think it would be much a wiser action to just tell them why you hate those books or perhaps what particular things you find to be repulsive in those books instead of burning them. This is just my opinion.

Well, there will be one less bible or Qu'ran in the world Rayaan. Definitely a positive effect.

But the negative effects that can result would outweigh the positives, in my opinion. By burning the books, you're creating a situation which would give Christians and Muslims a reason to retaliate in a way that might even cause harm to others. Also, the act of burning them is not going to stop anyone from reading them or believing in them. So it's not really worth it.
