So I made this epic-tasting meatloaf
Last night I made the most delicious meatloaf ever. You seriously have to give this a try. (I don't really measure stuff when I cook, so these measurements are an approximate guess. But it's fairly close. And I am assuming that you have a 5 x 9 inch baking pan; not sure how else someone would cook a meatloaf but perhaps there are other ways.)
  • Meatloaf
    • 1/4 cup ketchup
    • 1 egg
    • 1 cup milk
    • 1 1/2 pound ground beef
    • 5 strips bacon, chopped
    • 1/2 cup chopped mushrooms
    • 1/2 cup chopped onion
    • 1 cup bread crumbs
    • 6 tablespoons onion soup mix
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • pepper and seasoning salt
  • Sauce
    • 1/3 cup ketchup
    • 2 tablespoons mustard
    • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

Preheat the oven to 350º F. In a large bowl mix together ketchup, egg, and milk. Then combine the ground beef, bacon, mushrooms, onion, bread crumbs, onion soup mix, garlic powder, pepper and seasoning salt and mix together well. Form into a loaf and place in the baking pan. In a small bowl mix together ketchup, mustard, and brown sugar and then spread half this sauce over meatloaf. Place the meatloaf in oven for 1 hour.

NOTE: After 30 minutes of baking, spread the other half of the sauce over meatloaf, then continue baking for the remaining 30 minutes.

Ew!! Mushrooms!!

Big Grin

No, seriously, you must be psychic - I just asked my ex's mother last night for her meatloaf recipe so I could make one today. I'll try this instead....sans mushrooms.

Thanks peach.

Looks great! I'll give this one a go.

One question though, can one replace the garlic power with real garlic?

You'd probably need a tad more if you did - dried herbs and spices usually are a bit more potent than fresh.

Here you go:

Also, my coworker suggests lining the bottom of the pan with bread to soak up the grease, making sure the bottom won't harden.
