At long last I have decided to join the fray and get my feet wet. I registered here in November of 2010. Subsequently I visited occasionally [lurked if you will] but didn't feel ready to introduce myself. Well, now I'm ready.
I openly became an atheist about twelve years ago. I was brought up in a devout Roman Catholic family. Religion was very important to me as a young man. So much so that I attended a seminary for a year in my teens. After that doubt started to creep into my religious convictions. It took years to shed all those layers of indoctrination.
What surprised me the most about openly being an atheist was the sense of peace I felt. Finally I could be myself.
I hope to be able to contribute some to this forum.
Thanks for having me.
