Meanwhile, Alei, I missed you. I got invited to a burlesque show that I had to pass up this time, but we had an interesting discussion at brunch yesterday about the differences between burlesques and strip clubs. I wished you had been there.

Hola, alei. It sounds like things are going well. In other words, you are handling the obstacles being thrown at you, so they can hardly be called obstacles anymore. Good on you!

There needs to be more burlesques, if ya ask me... and less strip clubs. Burlesque is an art, while stripping is just taking your clothes off, and pretending to be interested in stupid men with hard dicks, and pockets full of cash. There's no comparison. I'll take a burlesque club any day. I did burlesque from 2003-2006 at a place called The Caberet. The last year I did it, my character was a woman impersonating a man, impersonating a woman. A "Tootsie", if you will. It was fucking great!!

Good for you Alei!

I worked in welfare for over 25 years, part of my job was dealing with homeless kids.

A major problem I had : Teens tend to be 'minimal responders'; it can be like pulling teeth to get them to talk to you. Lots of possible reasons. Biggies include;teens tend not to trust adults, and they are not accustomed to an adult actually LISTENING to them.

Kudos and every success in your new job. I think you have the potential to make a huge positive difference in the kids' lives.

Ahem, the "other man" in my life who has an actual claim on me has been to several of Dita's shows. I live a very sheltered life or something and never go to these things (or until lately hung around really boring fucking people), and it's going to change next month.
