I bet the methane footprint would go through the roof though.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

This is old news I think. It was used decades ago to "Save the Amazon Rainforests"

Undecided Since when are we specifically eating tons of carbon/ CO2?....... I am beginning to suspect that SD just recycles news worthy items.

In the theme of the OP but on a slightly different slant
Quote:Carbon Emissions 'Outsourced' to Developing Countries
ScienceDaily (Mar. 8, 2010) — A new study by scientists at the Carnegie Institution finds that over a third of carbon dioxide emissions associated with consumption of goods and services in many developed countries are actually emitted outside their borders. Some countries, such as Switzerland, "outsource" over half of their carbon dioxide emissions, primarily to developing countries. The study finds that, per person, about 2.5 tons of carbon dioxide are consumed in the U.S. but produced somewhere else. For Europeans, the figure can exceed four tons per person. Most of these emissions are outsourced to developing countries, especially China.

China is by far the largest "exporter" of carbon dioxide emissions, as seen in this map of the net flow of emissions embodied in trade among the major exporting and importing countries. Arrows indicate direction and magnitude of flow; numbers are megatons (millions of tons). (Credit: Steven Davis/Carnegie Institution for Science)

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

It already is.

Cows that provide your burgers, along with termites, are the biggest producers of CH4, which is already the most abundant organic compound on the planet and far more damaging than CO2.

A pet dog has a larger carbon footprint than a 4x4

I have decided to buy a hummer, and so long I can guarantee to run over at least 3 dogs a year I should be carbon neutral Wink

Scaling back commercial livestock production by scaling up local aqauculture would give a very good compromise. We could still buy our steaks, there would be a lot more seafood lying around, and the whole thing would be much "greener". Unlikely to ever see anything like that in my lifetime.
