Psalm 137:9

People actually believe the utter BS lifespans present in the OT?  Like, really?  Really really?

Man, I can only imagine the diseases these people had, what with livestock and the rodents they attract, and other water-and-airborne diseases they must've been exposed to, not to mention no vaccines, fluctuating food and water supplies....

I mean... if people still believe the earth is flat...

I don't know why, but I still get floored when segments of humanity prove themselves to be this dumb. I'm guessing the actual average lifespan for these people was somewhere around 30-45 years. Which explains a lot of the rules about sex... gotta work fast to increase your tribe's numbers, and women having sex for fun (and risking pregnancy, which could lead to death) could be detrimental to the cause.

You do realize that Socrates died at 71 right? and that was from being executed...

Actually after the flood God decreed that Human expectancy would be only three-score and 10 (70) years.

There are people even now that don't make it past their 70's which in noway means that people don't live to be 100+.

Of course I do, the Bible makes it clear that during the antediluvian period, the condition of the earth was very different, for instance there was a layer of water in the atmosphere.
Quote:Genesis 1
6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament:
and it was so.

Firmament means sky, so there was water above and below the sky.

If you want to get scientific, water blocks radiation, therefore people during that period of time wouldn't be exposed the the same harmful rays that were are.

Quote:Long-term human residence in Space requires effective shielding against several different types of radiation. Radiation generally hurts people by destroying cells. Beyond a certain dosage, this leads to death within days or years. Most of the radiation from the Sun is removed by Earth's atmosphere because of collisions with air molecules, and converted to wavelengths with which our bodies are equipped to deal; yet we know that the higher-energy radiation such as the ultraviolet can harm humans. The solar radiation intensity at Earth's surface is only about a tenth of what is experienced in Space at Earth's orbit. The Earth's magnetic field also redirects and removes much of the charged-particle radiation approaching Earth.

A thick atmosphere of light molecules is an excellent protection against radiation. In fact, very light molecules such as hydrogen and helium are even better than heavier molecules to take out the higher-energy particles. Water is probably the most effective radiation shield of all. Unfortunately, there is no evident way of generating either a thick atmosphere (which requires strong gravity to hold it in place) or a blanket of water a couple of feet thick for habitats of any considerable size.

During the flood, the Bible states that the "windows of heaven were opened", and all that water fell to the Earth, Immediately after the flood God tells Noah that man's life expectancy is shortened to 70 years, which would seem to be in agreement with the article I posted.

Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)

How would there be light penetration at all, if there was a layer of water between the earth, and the sun? Oh wait, they thought the sun was a little ball of fire that traveled in the atmosphere between the land, and the supposed layer of water. You see the problem with believing there was liquid water up in orbit?

Kent Hovind has a lot to answer for.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

The better question to ask is if he believes in the Ancient Egyptian and Sumerian tales of people.  The Sumerian king list claims Gilgamesh ruled Uruk for 126 years.  Surely, that is far more believable than the Noah horseshit?
