Well, it's that you just house the 72 nations of the world under your roof. Maybe you just don't get to know people as well as you'd want to.

Unfortunately, Pro-PC crowd, Mehmet is correct in that the Roma are among the poorer ethnicities, and with squalor and poverty comes usually early breeding. However, that is not indicative of the Roma spirit or 'being Roma'. 'Typical' is somewhat accurate given that most Roma are consigned to poverty. But then again, saying typical Roma in response to their breeding is as valid as saying 'typical Turk' when they defend/deny the Armenian genocide, as I recall the majority of Turks (non-Armenians) claimed to support their countries actions.

So in the end run, 'Typical XXX' only goes so far before it becomes more of an expression of contempt than accuracy...

Furthermore, attempts at integrating the Roma peoples has proven to be a clusterfuck in France, to the point that the French government has decided to destroy their slums and kick them out ( http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/15/world/...5roma.html ), regardless of the consequences. Doesn't help the Roma cause that they have a tendency of creating illegal encampments (i.e. slums).

REF: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Romani_repatriation
Quote:President Sarkozy could not accept the fact that there were 539 illegal Romani camps in his country, and promised that half of them would be gone within three months.

Of course, predictably, the spark of the conflict, according to Wikipedia, was:
Quote:On July 16, French police shot and killed a 22-year-old French Romani man who fled a police check-point by driving through it in a BMW car. In retaliation, a group later identified as 'travellers' ("Gens du voyage") attacked and pillaged the village of Saint-Aignan in central France. The local mayor described the disturbances as "a settling of scores between the travellers and the gendarmerie".[2][7][8] On the same night and for a few nights thereafter, riots erupted in a Grenoble neighborhood after pursuing French police, having been shot at on three occasions during the chase, in turn shot and killed Karim Boudouda, a 27-year-old resident involved in a robbery at the Uriage-les-Bains casino near the border with Switzerland.

There you have it Ladies and Gentlemen. Mix one slum-dwelling/illegal settlement erecting people with race riots in the land that practically devolves into civil war over what it means to be "French", and finally mix in the outrageous element that said race riots were precluded over cut-and-dry (at least to the French) criminals and you create the Roma repatriation and expulsion program.

The third condition I think was most egregious and helped turn French moderates against the Roma -- protesting the death of a criminal who actively shoots at the police will most likely cause tremendous outrage.... Thinking

I hear that Turkey is very friendly towards the Roma, it's a long ways off, so if the French "repatriated" them there, it might take a few days to get back. Or they could ship em off to Germany (god I love gypsie hookers at the red light).

Exactly why I suggested Turkey, tolerance and acceptance is a given if you're any representation of your countrymen. Hell, I'd expect to see you standing at the border with your arms open.

Well, I am tolerant towards everyone. I don't know what gave you the expression that I might be intolerant towards anyone is beyond me.
However, I have my own ideology which centers on my own ethnic terms, and I know how to identify, judge and weigh people's worth in my eyes according to it.
But well, I've shared a room more than once with non-turks, and got along with them well. They didn't bother me, I didn't bother them. Individuals are generally not a matter of concern to me. I deal in numbers, nations and ideals.

You're absolutely right...I don't know what might have given me that impression...your heart is clearly full of tolerance, hell, you could fit a whole camp full of ethnic minorities in there.
