This One's For The Nerds...

RE: This One's For The Nerds...
So, it's hilarious we talk about this because I'm fascinated by the way "cool people" go to parties and seem to spend more time superficially wandering around, getting drinks, and bouncing from bar to bar (where you can hardly hear each other), but a bunch of nerds building a robot or tabletopping or otherwise engaging in creative pursuits where real conversation happens is for some reason "not cool".

It was like that in High School - they never talked about anything.

Oh, they talk. It's just never about anything important or even the least bit interesting. http://9gag.com/gag/2331847 It's still like that for me now (I'm in college).
Don’t ask.

I would be a nerd if I wasn't so goddamn apathetic about my pursuit of knowledge, however, I am starting to whittle away at that apathy. In short, I am looking to regain my nerdiness that I have lost.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

That's what it was like the last time I went out. Couldn't hear a thing people were saying, but I have a feeling it didn't really matter. At least when I was in high school we'd go out and do fun stuff. Like... egging arch-enemies houses Big Grin I wouldn't find that fun now - I'd feel way too guilty, but at the time exacting revenge for the schoolyard humiliation we received from the jocks was nice. But an even better result of those antics was the late night walks through the suburbs where we'd talk about interesting stuff on the way. Even now I'd much rather go out at night and explore the old train yard nearby than go out to some club where people get drunk and overload their senses with loud (often shit) music.

Where would I stand in the spectrum?

On the one hand I'm a huge fan of Sci-fi, LOTR(I have 2 sets of the books and the moviesBig Grin), in fact ALL of the nerdy stuff.

Yet on the other hand I ride motorcycles and was the the President of my bike club for the last 3 years, I'm a diesel mechanic and drink beer.
Which is the other end of the spectrum.

If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71.

The first thing I noticed in the OP was that Zelda was in the Super Nintendo, and that I use to have that model... and kept dying in Mega-Man VII... Sad
