I've smoked pot for years and I run a lot, have never had brochitis or any other lung problems. I don't know any tobacco smokers that could run one lap around their house without falling over.

Smoke is dangerous to your lungs no matter if it is tobacco or cannabis. Also cannabis have the bad side affect, to men, that it make the sperm quality worse and other sexual disdvantages. Also it affects ones memory too. But it all depends how much a person smokes and what kind.

Also we don't want to become like the dutchmen, damn themTongue

Of course all smoke is harmful to the lungs. Most people who smoke pot don't smoke one after another like a tobacco smoker. Note I said most people because I do know a couple of gas station clerks that smoke pot constantly. You have to rely on the research that has been done. There has been a carcinogen found in pot. There are not any studies on whether or not it has caused many cases of cancer in pot smokers. I do believe according to research that Tobacco causes the most cases of lung cancer. Even though it can cause lung cancer...is that a reason to keep it illegal? That would be a personal choice for each of us to make and it's definitely not going to harm anyone else if we decide to smoke pot that might cause us to get lung cancer in the future.

All of the pot smoking men I know have kids. Some have more than one. It can affect their ability to get someone pregnant but it's not going to make them sterile!! It's also said to cause women to skip periods and I have never had that problem and neither have any of my female pot smoking friends. Back in high school I smoked pot constantly and even then it didn't bother me in that way.

Memory is said to be affected but I can't personally vouch for that. It has never hurt my memory. I make A's and B's and I have never noticed my short or long term memory to be faulty. I also never smoke and then try to learn new information. I'm assuming if you go around stoned all the time then of course you will not remember things but ...that's another personal choice and still doesn't give any good reason for it to be illegal.

Even if I didn't smoke I'd vote YES at the polls if given the chance. I'm all about giving people the right to make choices about their lives. Marijuana is only mildly harmful and so people should be able to choose to smoke or not to smoke without fearing any consequences from the law. I have never been harmed by the pot heads that live next door to me. They smoke all the time and I doubt they know I smoke too. I see them on the porch burning one down all the time. The guy actually was nice enough to bring over some of our mail that was delivered to his house. Come to think of it...most all potheads I've met have been really nice and thoughtful people.

I salute you sir! Big Grin

Libertarianism FTW!

Big Grin Salute returned.

I personally don't see this issue any other way:

I'm sick of the idea that we are born into a system that gets to decide what we as educated adults should do. I'm as pro democracy as you can get, but democracy is for social systems, for a society to decide collectively on economic and social direction, not to decide individual freedoms.

My body is a one man dictatorship, i decide what the laws are and if you try and tell me otherwise you're invading my motherfucking country.

That last line was fucking awesome and quite profound. Are you quoting, or is it an entirely original thought? *salutes*, *high fives*.

RE: Cannabis
^ Someone actually used that as an argument in court, saying he was exempt from US law because he was his own country.

My concern is that there is no easy way, such as a breathalyser, to9 tell if someone is under the influence.

Kyu
Your concern is definitely a valid one, I agree with you there.

What I meant in my previous post is this: Your argument is a valid one for the illegality of driving stoned, but not for the possession of marijuana.

I agree that marijuana should be classified somewhere similar to alcohol. Keep it away from kids, regulate it's availability. Lettuce could be used with tobacco, but that shouldn't influence the legality of lettuce.

EvF, not a quote - just something i've essentially always believed. I don't know if i picked it up from anywhere though i could have and am not consciously aware of it.

Hahaha i didn't know about that. What happened in the case?

If he was using the idea to escape from social law then i don't support him at all, but if he was using it as a defense for a personal liberty then i'm all for it.
