Accent Tag! You're It.

Is "ya'll" really just a southern thing? I can't see why it's not everywhere. It's so easy to say, it practically leaps off the tongue.
I can understand "youins" only being a southern thing.. but "ya'll"... it just seems natural. 42
Around here people don't say you all which y'all is short for. We say you guys which would be y'uys. lol
hehe. "Yuns"
I've never heard anyone up north say "y'all." I'll tell you what now, though - ever since this exercise I've been really self-conscious about how I talk.
Maybe I should travel somewhere outside of the southeastern U.S....
When I was a young teen, and in singing lessons, my teacher complained that I sang everything with a twang. She made me learn this song in German because she said that no one could sing German with a southern accent. Needless to say, I proved her wrong. Ha! I try to be conscious of how I speak, but I can't wash the drawl out of my mouth. 42

More could only be better. I was sorry Kichi too had such a slight accent. I've heard plenty of Ozians and even those living here were much more brazen. I think it will be hard to do it without getting all self conscious about how you sound. Still I've got to give this a shot. I've lived most my life in California but I spent part of middle school and high school in Maryland where we said "hey" instead of "hi" and plenty of "y'all' and also spoke a hell of a lot slower than we do out here. I had to get speech help in elementary because "s", "th" and "z" aren't supposed to be the same sound. How annoying is that? Middle Tennessee! Not East. My best friend was an Eastern TN (Born in Oak Ridge, raised in Knoxville).
Strangely, he only had a southern accent when he was drunk, or making fun of me. 42
I thought you had family in Monroe county....

I have family everywhere in TN. My cousin's father-in-law lives in Monroe, but she just moved to Mount Juliet. I have an aunt and some cousins who live in Ten Mile, TN, and an uncle in Memphis.
