Evolution
RE: Evolution
I suppose that entropy would be an issue for evolution if it weren't for the "big yellow ball in the sky" constantly showering us in energy (for now). Not that organization isn't known to increase here and there, enclave. We'd be in a little more trouble if the earth was a closed system..at which we would expect entropy to grind life to dust, but since earth (and life) isn't a closed system we don't worry about it.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

We aren't even sure the universe is a closed system. But the things that we know from biology and cosmology are there to be seen, the evidence is there. To quote AronRa, in the end of all accounts, in terms of knowledge, evolution could get a 'B', but creation would always get an 'F'. That is because creation doesn't have any facts, any evidence to support it, and while our interpretation on how it happenned may be flawed, the fact remains that evolution happens.

Well anyone who can ask this
Quote:Taking entropy into consideration when observing evolution, how can a species gain energy to form more and more complicated systems, like the circulatory and reproductive systems? Where is the second system that the species is getting its energy from?
as a serious question, is a special kind of stupid.

This shit of retrofitting science after the fact is pathetic and stupid.

This argument has been used by all the major three and it DOES NOT WORK in any case.

Those holy books were written in a scientifically ignorant age. Science has progressed beyond those superstitions.

To the theists reading this of any label, ask yourself the following.

"Would I buy this same argument if someone holding another label were using this argument to argue for their god"

THE ANSWER IS NO, YOU WOULD NOT, so FUCKING DROP IT!

Science will not prop up ancient myth EVER!

The earth was not made in 6 days. Humans don't magically pop out of dirt. You wont get 72 virgins. Babies are not born without a second set of DNA. Humans do not survive rigor mortis.

Whenever a Christian or Muslim or Jew argue science for the existence of their deity, they are merely back peddling.

"Entropy" "second law" and "QM" have all been used by all three to say "anything goes=so therefore my pet god claim is true"

BULL SHIT.

If science justified "anything goes" then Angelina Jolie is sucking my dick right now.

All holy books are are mere myths written back then reflecting the wishful thinking of those who wrote the myths, no amount of science will turn a comic book into a science book.

Its trying to get knowledge from the... unknown! We don't have a second-by-second fossil record therefore a god exists and has created everything. Our knowledge may not be perfect, but its based on carefull laborious observation, testing and thought. But creationists have their conclusions drawned before even looking at the evidence. I would excuse that line of though from a 2000 y.o. scribe, bot not today.

Sorry, I should have been more detailed. I'm trying to point out the origins of life. The reason I asked this is because the sun gives energy, but this can't produce complex systems, you need that first single system to transform random energy into kinetic energy. I guess there really is no point in asking. The fact that evolution is based on life sprouting from non-life is a fairy tale. Life can only come from life.

Now you might be saying things like, "stupid creationist, so what about his God making Adam and Eve from dirt? That's Abiogenesis!" Adam was not alive until God gave him the breath of life. Life comes from life. He was nothing more than dead meat, a lifeless composition of elements. The 59 elements of the human body can all be found on the earth's crust. And when the body dies, it turns into dirt again. Convenient, huh? Or is that just another one of the millions of "coincidences"?

"...Darwinians agreed. Nothing was more essential for them than to decide whether evolution is a natural phenomenon or something controlled by God. The conviction that the diversity of the natural world was the result of natural processes and not the work of God was the idea that brought all the so-called Darwinians together in spite of their disagreements on other of Darwin’s theories." -Ernst Mayr, Professor of Zoology at Harvard University
Are we essentially evolved spacesuits stupidly assembled by no other reason than to reproduce more of the same stupidly assembled spacesuits that will eventually cease to exist? Clap

It's the devil's way now. There is no way out. You can scream and you can shout. It is too late now. Because you're not there, payin' attention. -Radiohead

Adam & Eve + young Earth go together, right? Why is it then that light from starts has been travelling for billions of light years? I'm assuming that you believe the universe is just as young.

Also, what I don't understand about Adam & Eve is that the human race would have multiplied through incest for the first few generations. That stuff clearly gives nasty results.

Ah - that would be chemistry you're looking for.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
