I have an Xbox 360 S and a 32" HD TV for video gaming. I used to game on my desktop computer, but they are expensive to maintain. If I make enough money one day I'll build another one.

For now, I'm quite content with my 2.5 year old MacBook Pro for all my computing needs, and I have an EeePC netbook that pretends to be a server so I can control my flat from anywhere in the world Big Grin

But that's only the surface. In Skyrim now, with mods only available to pc gamers, I can craft ankle traps, dwemer oil bombs, and throwing knives. We have an unlimited supply of new, free quests. I can stay a werewolf for as long as I want, and it's actually playable now with a mod to make the claws scale in damage like actual weapons.

As a bonus, male and female werewolves are now separately modeled, so Aela The Huntress no longer has implied male-parts. I disabled auto-aim from the bows, since it was pulling my arrows into walls. Enemies are smarter, and you're no longer bound to play a 'good' guild like the Companions. Want to join the witches and Hagravens instead, and become an enemy to the towns? It's possible with mods. Every annoyance that you've ever had in a game is gone on a pc. There's talk of a mod in development that will let players climb any surface in the game, and I'm working on a mod myself that lets you sneak into houses through windows. I got a mod to ride horses in first person, like in Oblivion.

Just the other day, a modder beat Bethesda to the punch and made professional-grade horse armor. But his is available for free.

I removed the essential tags from NPCs, so now if some anti-Dunmer racist starts being annoying I can take him out. I got a mod to make dragons tougher, since really they get taken out by wolves on the higher levels by default. The list goes on.
But sure, that stuff doesn't affect anything. Devil

Never call a gamer's rig overly expensive bullshit.

Why not? That is what it is to me. It might be different for you, but I'm not going to withhold my opinion on my gaming needs because they are not identical to yours. Argue

I find the problems you have solved trifling. I can still enjoy Skyrim and do as often as possible. Some people are much more particular about gaming. I don't have the time to be and therefore, I think gamers' rigs are overly expensive bullshit. Of course, I don't care how other people spend their money, so I am hardly insulting your choice of gaming experience. I am merely discussing my own.

I've seen them. I don't even know how many removeable weights, adjustable grips, and programmeable keys those mice have. Those are really top of the line.

@ShellB
That's fine, you're allowed to have an Xbox instead of a gaming rig. That's no reason to call PC gamers 60 and insult their choices. No one made you show up on a PC gaming thread and talk about how your 'sex box' isn't like our 'overly expensive bullshit', and then pass off the game-changing capabilites of a PC as minor additions. It's okay to be jealous.

But ask yourself this:
What happens when the Xbox 720 comes out, and it costs $700? All I'll need to do is spend $300 on a high end GPU three years from now, and it'll still outperform your console by a wide margin. Plus, PCs are backwards compatible so I won't have to throw out my old games. Who's paying too much then? Not to mention I don't have to deal with a monthly fee to play online.

Calm down, chucklehead. It wasn't personal until you took it that way. I do pass them off as minor additions to me. They do not matter to my gaming experience. Again, I don't have a lot of time to play video games, so I take what I can get and don't waste my money on something I can barely use. Furthermore, this PC gaming thread is open to every member of this forum. It is not your exclusive thread, nor did you start is, so chill out, howdy.

Um, I'll continue using my 360.

It will outperform in ways that don't matter to me. What part of that is difficult? They matter to you and I don't care. Why do you have to care if they don't matter to me?

Quote:Not to mention I don't have to deal with a monthly fee to play online.

I don't play online, so, again, another problem that doesn't matter to me. It would be stupid for me to pay out for that kind of nonsense because I would never get the opportunity to use it enough to warrant paying for it.

I did enjoy your little rant, though. Thanks for the lulz. Big Grin

People who usually like consoles exclusively like them for reasons that most upgrade-savvy computer gamers find incomprehensible. Tongue

Indeed, it would appear that not having time to spare is difficult for you computer gamers to swallow. Wink

I also like XBox controllers. I find using a keyboard or really anything else is tedious. Again, simply personal preference.
