I am an RDF refugee. I ended up here and found a few familiar faces. I've stayed because of the ethos of this site and it's glorious leader. Whilst not perfect, I believe that it's the best there is of its ilk.

Same as OP. I felt alone, googled atheist forums and found this site.
Don’t ask.
I was playing around with atheist quotes when I suddenly wondered if there were any atheist forums out there which is when I discovered this sites predecessor. In my first post I was told off by Tiberius for teaching my children that we evolved from fish which I thought was a bit rich coming from a childless teenager :p and promptly defended my actions.
The rest is history
My husband found this place first and encouraged me to join. I found that I really like it here. I'm an admin on another atheist forum, so it is nice to be able to come here and not worry so much about what I say or how I say it. The other forum is where I hang out more, but it seems that once you are on staff, you are held to a slightly different (higher) standard.
Religion is not the answer-it is the problem. Everything considered, we would be better off without it.~Baubles of Blasphemy~Edwin F. Kagin
"Much better to have the ability to think critically, than the ability to quote scripture. One says you have a functioning mind. The other says you're a parrot." -- The Secular Buddhist
I was refered here by another member on this forum. Good site and lots of good hearted people to hang out with and share our beliefs - despite my short presence here.
The desire to converse with my fellow heathens drove me here.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
I hadn't been a part of a forum in a long time and it's something I've always enjoyed. So I googled Atheist Forums and bam lol.
I was actually searching for Japanese tentacle porn videos and got directed here for some reason.
NO,no,no...... I had actually been engaged in a very loooong running Evolution Vs Creation thread on a motorbike forum I'm a member of. When that finally died, I decided to find a place where I could carry on the argument and found this place. I was a member of one other atheist forum but it wasn't as good as this one. I've thought about joining other forums but I spend way too much time here as it is. If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71.
