This happened not far from where I live.

Two things seriously bother me about the incident (aside from the horrific child abuse). First when the woman was slipping into insanity the church probably encouraged this behavior. People who are mildly schitzophrenic are looked up to in some of the more crazy churches. People admire their spiriturality. So long as their delusions maintain a Bible theme and they don't go too crazy (by their definition of crazy) they don't stand out as schitzophrenic. This is insane. I have personally known many many crazy (they literally should have been medicated) Christians. Some of them were encouraged by the church. Also in a church full of crazy delusional people you have to be really really crazy and delusional in order to stand out enough to attract notice. Forget about early detection and early treatment. You could be ready for hospitalization before anyone notices (perhaps I'm exaggerating this a bit).

Secondly, These crazy churches don't understand how dangerous the belief in demon possession can get, and how quickly it can lead to abuse. The problem with the belief in demon possession (obviously) is how ineffective exorcisms are. This leads to an escalation of things one must do to get rid of the demon. Of course if you are schitzo then you may just skip all the nicey nicey steps and jump straight to horrible abuse.
I have studied the Bible and the theology behind Christianity for many years. I have been to many churches. I have walked the depth and the breadth of the religion and, as a result of this, I have a lot of bullshit to scrape off the bottom of my shoes. ~Ziploc Surprise

You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.
