George Washington named Britan's Greatest Ever Foe
|
yeah ... American's have always been bad asses.
He beat Napoleon? Are you kidding me? That guy would of outright conquered us if he hadn't got cocky, taken a rest mid-battle and left one of his generals incharge.
Seriously, that guy almost ended us.
Yeah, Napoleon was pretty badass. However . . . George Washington cleaned your clocks miraculously twice.

If Washington had actually attempted to invade England like Napoleon then I'd agree. As it stands Napoleon was more of a threat. RE: George Washington named Britan's Greatest Ever Foe

I find these sort of things so annoying. Every so often we get a "Nation's Favourite..." contest, usually involving sitcoms, soaps, and Delboy Moments (if you don't know what that means, I envy you). So it wasn't "Britain's Greatest Ever Foe" but "Britain's Greatest Foe From A List Of Twenty Chosen Arbitrarily So As To Comply With Unnecessarily Strict Boundary Conditions". Even then, Washington only managed less than 2% of the online poll and only managed 45% overall after a closed vote. This is why we end up with lousy Prime Ministers.
However, I too am surprised old Bony didn't rate higher. As a battlefield foe he was a real force to be reckoned with. Also, unlike Washington, he didn't have a face like a slapped arse. I suspect that most of the voters looked at the candidates they were allowed to choose from, had no idea who most of them were, and just picked the ones they'd heard of. At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
