The Pirate Bay blocked by UK ISP's

Quote:TPB isn't doing anything illegal; it hosts torrent files, which don't breach copyright law.

Not illegal here either, yet,However,Pirate Bay owners DID get done in Sweden and the owners fined million of dollars . BUT the owners are just young men with no assets.,so tough titties for the companies. Oh,PB was down for about 24 hours..

For interest; have a look at the maths used by companies to calculate their losses due to Piracy. They are pure fiction, PLUS based on the unprovable and unlikely assumption that most or all people who pirate stuff would have otherwise bought the pirated material

Over 100 years ago,the US supreme court (and others internationally) invented the legal fictions of the nil liability company and decided a company is a person. The notion of a company having intellectual property rights is another self serving legal fiction, without moral authority in my opinion. Perhaps one reason millions of people ignore that law

.I think pirating is also seen as a petty, victimless crime. Plus many people are most unsympathetic to large corporations with their obscene profits lying about their losses. .

OF course I usually obey even bad laws if I'm afraid of the penalties for breaking them. Pretty sure I would hide a refugee who had escaped from one of our concentration camps.

Conservatives.
Which shambles of a government first implemented the "Cleanfeed" blocking system? Labour.

Let's be realistic here; this isn't a party issue. All the main parties in the UK are in support of this.

LMAO. It would seem the High Court's move to force ISPs to block the site has backfired (as usual):

Its getting more hits than ever before. Big Grin

People just need to leave the internet the fuck alone. It's fine as it is.

Same could be argued for everything that works before a politician meddles with it.

Everything they touch dies.

I don't approve of piracy under almost any circumstance. . .

But given that TPB isn't technically doing anything illegal, and I'm against internet censorship, I hope this ban is repealed, and I'm glad that it's so easy to get around. I suppose, for once. . .yay pirates?
What falls away is always, and is near.

Also, I am not pretending to be female, this profile picture is my wonderful girlfriend. XD
