I have converted to Christianity

Over the past month or so, I have encountered a number of experiences that I attribute to God, so yes I believe that I have encountered God. The experiences are primarily based on emotion. Rather than being an experience of extreme mystical euphoria, which is how most seem to describe it, it was more of a gentle sense of emotional wisdom and having a profound feeling of what is "right". The fact that it feels true, right and profound is important to me. This could obviously be explained by neuroscience as a neural biochemical reaction within the monoamine system in my brain. There have also been instances of synchronicity, which could be explained in a mathematical/probabilistic sense. I have learned to accept what I truly believe deep down, instead of suppressing my beliefs.

Another interesting question: I define Christianity as an extremely complex system of beliefs. To sum it up into a simple sentence, the central messages that I see in Christianity are based on being "good", moralistic, forgiving and loving.

So, you realize that your experiences can be explained in other ways - ways which can be shown to actually exist, by the way - and yet you attribute it to god. Well, I guess we can establish that your intellectual integrity is non-existent.

If you’re going to watch tele, you should watch Scooby Doo. That show was so cool because every time there’s a church with a ghoul, or a ghost in a school. They looked beneath the mask and what was inside?

Having a religion is not very pleasant. I hope you never have the misfortune of having one.

Although if, as you seem to indicate, you have had one, you have my sympathies, but theres nothing wrong with a touch of flippancy Smile (Either a religion or brain tumor)

Where did you get the idea that there's nothing wrong with being disrespectful? For all you know, the person you were addressing could either have had a brain tumour or know someone who does. It just seems very insensitive.

My condolences.

I'm allergic to irrationality but that didn't stop you being disrespectful to my malady.

Where did you get the idea that people with brain tumours and/or religion should be respected. They are worthy of sympathy, but nothing more.

Firstly, would you care to explain how I was disrespectful to you. Secondly, as I said, it's very insensitive to suggest that someone has a brain tumour.

I am not a biblical literalist, nor do I believe that Christianity is the ONLY truth. I believe relativism (in philosophy) is the ultimate perception framework that encapsulates all possible belief systems. For some of you God absolutely does not exist, for others among you God obviously does exist (in various forms). Therefore, from this perspective, God exists and does not exist at the same time. Extremely counter intuitive ideas like this are also present in the quantum universe, in which, according to Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle, an indivisible subatomic particle, such as a photon or electron, can exist and not exist at the same time in certain instances.

"Although I have severe mental illness, I am a genius according to Mensa."

Better stated:

I have severe mental illness: I am a christian and have met god.

*le sigh*

We're not getting off on a very good foot are we. Smile

By referring to the concept that I was offended by your irrationality, I am pointing out that people are offended over many things, but quite frankly, the right to offend, is far stronger than your right not to be offended.
It was also in humour.. but I guess that fell flat Smile

You didn't say it was insensitive, you said it was disrespectful. I asked you to explain why someone with a brain tumor deserves respect rather than sympathy.

Minimalist was just being flippant (even if he means it), but quite frankly, its OTT to jump up and down demanding it was disrespectful.

Your name is "Logic". Why are you making life changing decisions based purely on "feelings"?
