RE: Well...after 7 years ...for Legal Reasons...

Well, yesterday, my mom and dad were talking about how so many things have changed in their lifetimes, with my mom beginning with a recall to the day they allowed girls to wear pants.
It struck me that only within the last 70 years have women been transitioned from semi-intelligent beasts (legally) to encompass more rights and responsibilities, approaching (but not yet synced or matched in many opportunities) that of men.
It's not a "sad" name. It's a monstrous reflection of the deprecation and artificial repression of a whole class of thinking beings to serve and stay under another class, to the point that "equal pay for equal work" is not standard operating procedure (SOP) but a somewhat "radical" (to a great many cultures, countries even now, like half of America) to conceive of.
Unfortunately, uplifting one whole class of thinking beings separated by gender is harder than one might think -- much of our shared and unique cultures grow a dependence on old information, on old roles and older traditions; it is that cultural dependence on 'continuity' that will routinely destabilize, oscillate and even destroy a movement to change that.
Abolition of slavery took well over a hundred years, across tens of thousands of people, to ban in our Euro-American "world", with many attempts and partial successes amounting to an ultimate conclusion, not that many of those people except that last generation to succeed in their respective country lived to see "change."
I fear no one will truly be equal in standing as a person, for there will always be someone wanting to beat another down. Perhaps that is why freedom requires an eternal vigil...
