I'll be in the Monroeville Mall in Pittsburgh.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

It was the
primary filming location for the original Dawn of the Dead in 1978, which leads me to believe it'd make an ideal fortress against a zombie attack - barring roving street gangs, of course.
I've never been there but it's a place I'd like to make a pilgrimage to one day, like these guys:

Incidentally, several years ago Sam and I met the two principal zombies from the film at a convention at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. They were really pleasant and friendly, we had a good long chat with them. They hadn't changed a bit from their onscreen appearance except they were rather less grey and dead.

Yeah, Romero lived in Pittsburgh for a while, so his early films were all done there. Night of the Living Dead was made about 10 years before Dawn. Both are fantastic, but Dawn has the current spot of being my favourite film of all time.

ah cool. night of the living dead was very nearly filmed in my backyard. the graveyard it was said to have been filmed in, we played in as kids. it feels good to hear my little corner of the globe mentioned, makes me homesick a bit.

Yeah, Dawn of the Dead kicks other zombie movies in the balls then rips off their legs and beats them to death with the wet ends. Interestingly, though Night, Dawn and Day of the Dead were filmed around ten years apart, they take place at more or less the same time so they sort of overlap. Haven't seen his later films but I understand Diary of the Dead is a seperate story that happens on the original Night and features the same news track.

Aye, you really should. I should take a picture of my zombie film collection sometime and put it on here... I believe I am at 67 at the moment.

For Night, I'd recommend either the original black and white version or the 'colourised' one but viewed with the colour turned down. It's not a bad effort but I found it very distracting at times; for instance, when someone's face is in shadow, they turn into a fuzzy coloured blob. And there are a lot of shadows in the film.
