Round and round we go

Round and round we go
Reading through the different threads, it is interesting to see the variety of topics being discussed, yet it seems to boil down to the following;

Christian - There is a God.

Atheist/humanist - No there is not.

Christian - Yes there is.

Atheist/humanist - No there is not.

Round and round it goes. I have a suggestion...why not agree to disagree, as it seems that we are not going to change each others views?!

Agree to disagree means no christians campaigning to demonize or outlaw anything they think the god of their holy toilet roll thinks is sinful.

Thing about the agree-to-disagree compromise is it only becomes viable when both sides have claim to a factual position, however limited. The question of existence regarding god(s), on the other hand, is strictly a binary one: there either is at least one or there is not. Thus fifty percent of your exemplar dialogue has to be wrong. We can agree to disagree on the opinion regarding such a question, but then you run face-first into Min's question.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Lucky escape, then.

It's actually more like this:
Christian - what's your proof of X?
Atheist - here's a complete list of the evidence provided by science, along with any logical pathways/personal experiences involving/providing further evidence for the existence of X
Christian - (changing the subject) ok, well...try to disprove god! You can't, can you?
Atheist - here's a rational, well thought-out argument, pointing out the flawed thought process behind that question, and the fact that 'lack of proof against' is not synonymous with 'evidence for.'
Christian - (sticking fingers in ears and bashing their head against a bible) LALALALALALALALALA I'M NOT LISTENING LALALALALA

Secondly, if Christians would stop persecuting atheism/committing atrocities such as killing their own childeren, as they believe them to be witches, there would be no need to point out the obviously erroneous nature of what they believe in.

Agreeing to disagree only works on certain levels. You can't agree to disagree with someone who proposes infringing on your rights and the rights of others. I can agree to disagree with someone about a topic that does not affect either of us. However, if someone insists on, say, taking away my right to get married, I can't live my life and agree to disagree. I have to continue the argument. Do you see what I mean?

I agree that we disagree.

I really only ever ask one thing from from believers. Present a reason to believe that your god exists. A reason that does not require that god's existence. None can offer said reason, and so I continue to lack belief. I don't particularly care if others believe or not, so long as they keep their beliefs out of my life.
