Really? WOW! that's over $AU300. My vet charged me total of $AU140 with Mimi,that included the consult,putting her down and the cremation. Here we are no longer allowed to bury an animal in the back yard.

He got brought home earlier, looked a fair bit better than when he went in. He's got to go back in though to have more tests and stay on the drip because he isn't eating.

I thought I'd bury my last dog Sophie in my garden but when the injection to put her down was given and she was dead I had no more interest in her body. Having it incinerated seemed as handy as anything else and is after all what I'll be having for my own. Funny though, while she was laying there and I was petting her and saying goodbye as the injection was prepared, everything about her was as precious as ever. But dead is dead and life goes on .. until it doesn't.

We had a friend to lunch yesterday with two naked apes in tow. One still nursing, the other two years old. At least the 2 year old liked the dogs and my dogs love kids. Our friend has a dog so she was fine with letting the dogs give the new born a good sniff and lick greeting.

In some professions that's called "observation". You do it when you have no idea what is going on or where to start.

Another annoying thing is, they haven't even done any tests yet :/ Said they will wait until the morning. Like, wtf was the point of us even taking him there in the first place if that was all they were going to do.

Urinalysis?

Blood tests?

If blood tests, what are you looking at first? Elevated white count? Evidence of rhabdomyolysis?

I may be operating off too little information, but getting upset because they haven't ordered some hitherto unspecified test is moronic.

Doctors are not some mechanic that you can take your stupid flesh to and expect an immediate response.

That said, find another vet if these are surly, confused or too expensive. You probably can do better and most likely will.

How the fuck should I know. I'm not a vet. The vets were asking us, like we know what to do. The point is they should know what to do, they are the professionals.

But taking your animal to a vet, to have them do nothing, is not only wasting money, but the dogs time.
