Few questions though: What is IRC? and why are torrents safer?

Dar answered the question on Torrents... As far as IRC, back in the late 80's it was originally designed as a Internal Relay Chat program, now 20 years later, it's still a room type chat program (if you want it to be), but Bots (program Zombie/robot, or however you want to define it) are now put into the many thousands upon thousands of rooms which act as a hard disk in which whomever owns the IRC server with the bots can add files to them..These rooms/servers are world wide...

Bottom line is that you are only downloading from a program, and there is no sharing involved.....I get some of my best speeds through IRC...

You will need a program to do this, (MIRC is what I use..free download) and a bit of computer lang. commands and (server knowledge helps a bit)...I've used IRC for 10 years now with no issues.....If you want fast download speeds almost every other time, I suggest IRC, if you want more choices across the board of what you are looking for, I suggest Torrents....

Also, If anyone out there is going through Azureus, take it off your computer and stay away from it..The movie and record industry has been taking part in that program since the beginning/middle of last year....I don't trust it.....

Rockthatpiano06, what program are you using for your torrent software and what site?? (If you don't mind me asking....??) U-Torrent is what I use and has been great for me so far....Smile
Dar....I had never heard of Peerguardian.......I just added it and blocked about everything I could (Besides the http)....

How long have you been using it? And does it really work that well with blocking your IP from people seeing it etc. ?

RE: Illegal downloading
I use bittorrent (which is pretty much the same as utorrent I think) and i use http://www.torrents.to- it searches a bunch of different torrent search engines for you but I mostly stick with the first couple on the toolbar Smile

RE: Illegal downloading
I've never been through "torrents.to-", ...You may want to try out what Dar said, and go through a different site for your torrent searches... Smile

Piracy is pure D wrong. It's not only illegal,it deprives large corporations of their just profits, forcing them to fire people and underpay starving actors. It also impoverishes their CEO'S,like poor Rupert. I'd NEVER do such a thing!Angel

--and under no circumstances, would I ever admit to anything illegal on an internet forum because I'm not THAT stupid and a little paranoid.

This is what others say about Peer Guardian:

"Awards are given to products that we think are excellent and above average in their category. Awards are given based on our experience and judgement, and only to products which the majority of our reviewers agree deserve it.

- Softpedia

So to round it all up, I think PeerGuardian 2 is worth the wait. Its very flexible and powerful.. 4.7/5 - P2Private

PG2 definitely gets my vote and I will suggest that as soon as a public beta or full version is available, that you download and try it out. - Afterdawn

The real trouble for media companies, though, could come if file-sharing networks begin to integrate personal firewall applications into their latest versions and create auto-updates, said David Weekly, a computer programmer who came to prominence for reverse-engineering the Napster software.

"If you built PeerGuardian into a next-generation Kazaa, for instance, everyone in the network could be blocking the RIAA," Weekly said. - Wired

A coder known on-line as "Method" has gone even further, creating a custom freeware application called PeerGuardian just for p2p users. PeerGuardian began life as an anti-spyware utility, but now also protects users from the prying eyes of anti-p2p police, using an IP blacklist that's updated periodically like a virus signature file.

"Right now only the top level p2p users are using that application," says Gonzalez. But he expects that to change as an unintended consequence of the RIAA's messaging campaign. Users may be frightened by the association's threats, but they'll respond by cloaking, instead of unplugging. "I would expect that next generation applications will start having these capabilities built in."

Music fans swapping songs on-line are fighting industry efforts to watch and police what they do. - BBC"
Personally, it's not God I dislike, it's his fan club I can't stand.

Not in the mood for jokes this morning Kyu? I merely highlighted some words in the interest of humour. No need to throw the toys out of the pram now is there?

No, you CHANGED it from what I originally wrote to something else, it's not the first time and maybe there was some humour value once or even twice but now it's getting on my fucking nerves!
