first, it's not an excuse. i don't owe you anything of the sort. second, i'm not doing anything because other people break the law too. it just goes to show the imbalance in the system - that same system that you assume will prosecute all crimes evenly. for your other question, i've been arrested plenty of times.

Of course there is an imbalance in the system which is all the more reason to stop the climate of fear based on "lock em up and throw away the key".
When you deal with poverty and that the poor do not have the resources to hire a good lawyer and a climate of fear you fill prisons up with people who really would do better with treatment and education. Instead we send far to many non violent people to violent prisons and they end up becoming worse off and get dumped back on us.
Fear is what we sell currently. Instead we should be seeing investment in the economy to insure more opportunity and stability.
