Religious people believe what they believe because they were indoctrinated and coerced, you guys are really missing the message by blaming the victim, I don't the venom directed at someone who essentially committed Christian approved suicide.

The point I'm trying to make is that the religion that claims to be based on love kills. Most Christians I know will say things like "the Crusaders weren't real Christians" well I counter this as real world current death caused by Christian opposition to abortion.

You claimed that 'religious people are not stupid'. I think 'bullshit' is a very appropriate reply. In fact, I gave you proof of my claim.

Smart people sometimes do stupid things; stupid people sometimes do smart things. Saying 'religious people are not stupid' ( an absolute ), is stupid. I gave you an example that does not fit an isolated moment of non-rational thought, so my invocation of 'bullshit' still stands.

Well, to be fair, nobody fully understands religious belief and behavior. I tend to agree in thinking most atheists are off the mark as a consequence of relying on folk psychology and sociology, and naive ideas about mind and relevant philosophical issues, but there is still a great deal that is simply unknown. Until further research in a broad range of fields pans out, it's largely anybody's guess where the truth actually lies.
