Unabomber on Psychology of a Liberal

Because Ted Kaczynski (Unabomber) graduated from Harvard at age 16, became a professor of mathematics, is believed to have understood math that only 10 people in the country did, and asserted he had an intellectual motive for killing others, I wanted to know what his philosophies are. I know a majority of people can be wrong, so I wondered if he had any compelling argument to justify what he did or if his targets were corrupt.

As it turns out, I concluded he was a cruel and sick man anyways after reading up on him, but I found a gem in the process.

Right now (well, at least temporarily) I feel like a loser in life. With some exceptions, like being pro-guns and opposing minimum wage, I consider myself a "leftist." Did Ted Kaczynski peg down my psychology? Do you think modern leftists tend to feel like a loser? He believes that modern leftism is a psychological phenomena. The next paragraph will give you a resource that might provoke thought about those questions.

I read those sections. Frankly, he's full of shit.

Generalizations, crap reasoning and reliance on bigotries to convey a point. I was not in any way humored, and despite your building him up as some form of math genius, it is easy to see he is no writer. Reminds me of the segments I browsed through in Mein Kampf.

If I wanted to see a zoo of logical fallacies, I merely need observe fundamentalist-anything.

The funny part is, I've met only one person so far in my life that even remotely comes close to his generalizations of the "liberal" who argues the most ridiculous shit. He's a coworker of mine, and is goddamn gullible. I and others have fun in trolling and correcting some of the most retarded things said. Not much of a malicious sapping presence on society as the Unabomber describes, despite this being in San Fran-fucking-cisco. You can't even evaluate one point of Unabomber's rant without it falling flat on it's face.

In short, mathematician he may be, writer of anything sensible he is not.

I've a young sibling in college, well ahead of the time I went. Keeping her balanced is hard -- College is a rather immature environment in many, many, many aspects.

I recommended to her to live in a Co-op, thinking it would mirror my fraternity experience (engineering frat, medium sized). I couldn't have been more fucking wrong; a house run by college age women is by far the most annoying, inconsistent and moronic shitshow I've ever seen. And apparently this was the "best" one.

Unlike the men of my house (frat) who'd drive you crazy if you couldn't get the job done, yell at you, etc, these... children utilize "make equal" work that the slackers, predictably, never do. Instead of "Everyone, each of you is responsible for an area and we will be checking", it is "Everyone, do an hour more of work! (That we never fucking verify)".

That's the best part of it. I've not even scratched the worst. Already you see things are easy to game, unequal and without recognition or care (an anathema to my sister, whose whole self is centered on being diligent, careful and observant).

I fear for my sibling's socialization, as she wants to be reasonable, but most of her peers aren't even at "College" behavior level, whereas she works with Post-docs all the time. The unremitting childishness of her peers is appalling at times, and I often wonder if I were not there to drop in, set things right, yell at people, etc, she'd have a twisted view of others. However, she is not fragile, which gives her strength to weather 99.9% of the insanity.

It comes to mind that perhaps the Unabomber, as intelligent as he is, was already fragile and didn't socialize well at all. It doesn't excuse his later actions, but it does raise the prospect that we as a society, as a social group end up amplifying the instabilities of others.
