Its rather sad. The government don't seem to be doing enough to tackle this emerging problem. The recent riots on London not too long ago are but a taste of things to come if we cannot form a proper sense of "unification".

America is a country of extremes, but at least the USA is a proper secular nation regardless of the religious fucks running around.

I envy you. ^^

About immigration: From the information that I've read this is the tentative conclusion that I've come to. Most of the time when I've read about this sort of bullshit the article usually mentions the nationality or original nationality of the person involved. I didn't want to jump to conclusion though. I've only read a few articles and I don't live in the U.K. so I thought it was best if I didn't rush to judgement. I was concerned that the immigrants bullshit belief was rubbing off on the rest of the people of that country. In other words I was curious how spreadable this problem is.

One of my reasons for concern is that there is a significant number of Africans here in the United States. Here in Houston the oil industry attracts employees from African countries that have oil. These countries, most notably Nigeria, are some of the same countries where witchcraft abuse is a serious problem. Though part of the problem of the rise in witchcraft abuse is due to the mixing of American Pentecostalism with African (most notably Western and Central Africa) religions (not the Muslim beliefs though) I'm worried about the hybrid religion coming back here and starting shit. We already have a problem with preachers from those regions of Africa coming here to preach and earn money. I'm curious about how bad things could get if we don't put a stop to it. BTW I acknowledge that the possible virulence of the hybrid religion is greater here in my region than it is in other parts of the world, partly because it already meshes with stuff we have here and partly because people in the U.S. (particularly the Southern U.S.) are already primed for religion. I'm looking at the problems in other countries and am using it as a (loose) model of what could happen here.
I have studied the Bible and the theology behind Christianity for many years. I have been to many churches. I have walked the depth and the breadth of the religion and, as a result of this, I have a lot of bullshit to scrape off the bottom of my shoes. ~Ziploc Surprise

Quote:Me for one; English born and bred. It may be irrational of me, but I feel my hackles rise every time I encounter someone referring to "the British" or simply "Brits".

I'm English/British too. I'm curious as to why being reffered to as British irritates you. It doesn't bother me that much, apart from when people forget Wales and Scotland are also part of Britain. Even then it's more of a minor thing.
The Christian religion is a very powerful and convincing mistake, that's all.

It's not something I spend my waking hours seething about and I did say it was probably irrational. It just gets my back up. I can pretty much guarantee that anyone who throws the label "the British" or "the Brits" around in terms of a homogeneous entity has almost certainly never met one or set foot on this septic isle.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Funny.

The same could be said about America.

Yeah, but we all know Americans are weird.
