Seriously? That's personal. Tell GC to shove it up his ass.

Do my friends have a right to know my personal beliefs? No,they do not. However,it would be a lie of omission to allow them to think I hold beliefs I do not hold. My friends and family know my position on religion, politics and social justice,as well as issues of the day, such as refugees and the war in Afghanistan.

Is Godchild forgetting, that most people aren't open about their beliefs because they'll more than likely be excommunicated, or treated like shit by their own simple minded christian families?

If assholes like that didn't exist, I'm sure people wouldn't have to be 'deceitful' as he calls it.

He thinks that if you don't believe childish bullshit you deserve it.

So much for his "loving" fucking god.

Of all my friends and family, the only one who was an arsehole about my beliefs was my late father. However, he was an arsehole about most things unless you agreed with him, so it was to be expected.

I truly pity a sane person who comes from say a family of young earth creationist loons. Nor can I imagine what it must be like for a normal person living in a scientology household.

I don't go around identifying myself as a Christian. By his logic, I am being deceitful for not declaring my faith openly.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

GC said that to me.

I think I understand what he means. There's a bit of trust involved in my circle of friends. Maybe not telling them is to an extent breaking this trust.

You're taking Godschilds opinion? Are you insane? Have you not read through any of his posts? Hes about as qualified to lecture people on life as I am to run a nuclear reactor.

Look, if you want to go around telling people thats your business but what exactly would you tell them? You're certain something like a God exists only you don't think its God and you can't specify anything else about it? Have you ever said that outloud to yourself let alone to another person?
Then you'd inevitably have to explain why. Do you honestly even know why? I mean the opening gambit is suspect enough but if you follow it up with speculation that basically amounts to "I believe because I believe" then what exactly do you think you're telling them thats so terribly important? People don't need to know every little thing about you you know.
If it bothers you that much put it under religious views on facebook or something, unless you want to get into debating or inform someone you're close to thats about all the exposition you need.

The bottom line is, you don't have to tell people anything that is deeply personal. A relationship with a deity is, by definition, deeply personal. If you lack one, that is your problem, not anyone else's. I don't know what kind of sex positions some of my friend's like. That doesn't mean they are being fucking deceitful. It means it is none of my business. I'm cool with that. You should be cool with that. If it is going to make your life difficult, it's okay. Everyone withholds. Shit, everyone lies. Protecting yourself is instinctual. Don't beat yourself up because of some asshole with an agenda.

Shame on you, GC. No one makes you feel bad for being too open with your ridiculous worldviews.
