A good number of Christians are deceitful (intentionally or not) about their lack of beliefs. Some of them still may even go to Church (where I live, you'd probably need four times the amount of Churches just to accommodate the number of people who claim to be Christian) but yet don't believe a word about the Divine nature of God.
In France, they are a little bit more honest...of those who say they are Catholic and may even partake in the ceremonies, fully half of them plainly reveal they don't believe in God (and I would assume all the other Divine aspects of the Bible).
I'm of the belief that in public given the lack of anonymity, someone who openly touts their belief or lack of belief is just some egotistical prick. When I am walking down the street, I don't need to hear about how you found Enlightenment (and how blessed you are for the experience....was going to say Jesus, but I'd probably give an awww before walking away) and I don't need to hear about how much you hate Hindus.

But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.
