What would an error in the bible even show?

Faith in God is expected to be an absolute thing, and the Bible is supposed to be His word writ. All it takes is one error to call the entire thing into question. If your faith in God is independent of the Bible, then you're following your own made-up rules instead of someone else's, unless you go principled deist and dismiss rules altogether.
