a question for atheists
August 5, 2012 at 12:56 pm
If our universe exist because he is consistent
we can imagine other universes with life being way more difficult
how lucky we are to be in our universe
If everything is directed by the laws of our universe
we are just a bunch of organic robot being fooled
we are fooled to be free
fooled to live
why are we even conscious?
we can imagine the same universe filled with the same but unconscious peoples
yet we are all fooled
whats the point?

fooled to live
What?

Ah now a question emerges.
Consciousness has emerged because of nature of the evolutionary struggle. Big brains have a survival value and big brains can lead to conciousness. et voila.

How atheists explain the consciousness? From the atheist point of view being conscious is the equivalent of watching a movie, so how do you explain it scientifically? why are we conscious rather than unconscious?

Atheism is a non-prophet organisation. - A dusty old book that I found that must be completely true because someone wrote it down.

Being conscious was a beneficial trait for survival of the species, therefore we evolved to have these capabilities.
As for your question as to what's the point, does there have to be one? I admit that I don't know, but it appears that there is no overall point to life. It seems we are merely a by-product of the cosmos and not its end goal, but does that really change things? Whether there is an overall point for our species, we as individuals are still capable of discovering meaning for ourselves as individuals, and to me, that's what matters.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
