TIL (Today I Learned)
Thought this would be an interesting thread to share weird / unusual facts that you learn. Based on the popular subreddit /r/todayilearned. I'll start us off.

TIL that the girl in the "Overly Attached Girlfriend" meme actually created the character herself.

The meme:

Her YouTube video where she sings a creepy parody of Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend" song:

It wasn't today and I swear it wasn't me directly, but I learned the importance of keeping pile ointment and Deep Heat Rub well separated in the bathroom cabinet.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Today I learned that my daughter wants to make a pillow out of my chest hair. I was really disturbed by this; and even more so when she revealed that she had seen it on an episode of Garfield.

TIL that Aristotle supported the concept of the "polity" which translated loosely as "the community" to decide how they wish to be governed. Greek society achieved this briefly as all community members had a short term on the council that governed and made decisions. This is the closest to true democracy any society has ever achieved.

Sort of. Pure "de-ionized" water always has some free ions in it (being an excellent solvent for a hell of a lot of stuff).

If you could manage to completely remove all of the ions / impurities from water, it is an excellent insulator.
