Should prostitution be legal?

RE: Should prostitution be legal?
Yes, it works well in Nevada, the women receive weekly checks and pay taxes. It's the conservative method for controlling what people do in the bedroom. Assholes.
"In our youth, we lacked the maturity, the decency to create gods better than ourselves so that we might have something to aspire to. Instead we are left with a host of deities who were violent, narcissistic, vengeful bullies who reflected our own values. Our gods could have been anything we could imagine, and all we were capable of manifesting were gods who shared the worst of our natures."-Me

"Atheism leaves a man to sense, to philosophy, to natural piety, to laws, to reputation; all of which may be guides to an outward moral virtue, even if religion vanished; but religious superstition dismounts all these and erects an absolute monarchy in the minds of men." – Francis Bacon

I'd like to see it legalized but I suspect I myself will continue to give it away for free. Just a lover I guess.

Alright, so it's pretty one sided here.

Leaves me pondering the question, why exactly is prostitution illegal in the first place?

If you make it legal it makes it possible to regulate it. You can cut down on sexually transmitted diseases as well as drug abuse and physical abuse that those in the profession are usually subjected to.
It would essentially make the world a slightly happier place to live in.

Femi-nazis working against the best for society once again?
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Re: Should prostitution be legal?
Of course it should be legal. Of course, it should be regulated and clipping (wandering the streets looking for punters but running away before providing a service) should remain illegal purely for the girls' safety. All the brothels I've known were well secured flats with security cameras and two sets of doors to ensure only the person/people seen on the cameras got in when the door is opened. They all require there to be at least one person other person there besides the girl(s) and make sure condoms are used if a punter wants intercourse and that the girls are tested regularly for STIs. The Police don't have any problem with these places which are run properly because they're not harming anyone and actually keep certain crimes down. One place I know had been robbed and the Police said they could carry in working while they were there gathering evidence! lol

Perhaps in part. However, prostitution [and homosexuality] has been legal pretty much legal throughout history, until the Arahamic superstition got control and stuck its oar in.

A huge part of all organised religion is about power. Controlling peoples' sexuality is very powerful ,and translates to wealth and political power.

So you're suggesting it's because of religious influence Pad?

Why does that not surprise me...

(in the sense that religion influencing law, does not surprise me)
