In the Atheism+ forum, if you try searching for the word "rape" it fails, because it gets too many hits.

And that has nothing to do with actual rape, with sincere sympathies & understanding. It's to do with Thought Crime taken to a whole new level... pre-Thought Crime. Yep, every man is a potential rapist. Even the "good guys".

Oh, I've seen it, or at least people like that if not the exact same forum. You'll get too many hits if you type in the term 'rape culture' too, for pretty much the same reason.

It's pretty awful if you ask me; they're more than willing to go into great detail on ways society and culture and environment impacts women's psychology, but they never stop and consider what impact it has on guys when they're seen as rapists at every turn. Their aversion to 'nice guys' is especially troubling, because it lets so many guys think they simply can't win..... so why try.

At the moment, they're busy telling men that they have no input when it comes to abortions. That is partly true, but the truer picture is that other women also have no input when it comes to a woman making that decision. But that's too messy and gets in the way of them just hating all men.

Yeah, it's a really frustrating circle to ever be in. I had an online social circle that started out cool but slowly but surely turned into that kind of feminism and that's when things got less than fun. I felt like I couldn't post anything without first having it looked over and approved by no less than two ACLU lawyers and a women's studies professor.

It's especially troubling for my boyfriend, which is really what made me realize how troublesome those people can be. He's a transman who hasn't transitioned yet, but how does it make him feel when these people keep going on and on about how evil men are.... and there's nothing he wants to be more than a man? How much is it going to hurt him to hear about the corruption of male privilege when he knows he's going to have that when he transitions (some will claim he already has it, even though the great majority of the world still sees him as a girl)? He's had real misogyny directed at him for years, largely the result of being raised in a fundamentalist household, and it's really trivializing to have the garbage he had to deal with grouped in with some of the trivial things they complain about. It's frustrating because he knows what he had to put up with was wrong and he doesn't want to perpetuate that, but he can't seem to go to places that will recognize that because they're also bashing him for being a guy. It's mind boggling and because it's hurting someone I love, yeah, it's personal. I need to find some more reasonable sites he can turn to and get him to talk about his experiences there.

Kidding. Mostly. Most trans women would get into all kinds of a fit over that; you're lucky I'm laid back and easy going.

Actually, trans men dating trans women is a pretty common pairing. Heck, I have several trans friends who are specifically attracted to other trans people. Right now, in our local trans community, I think I've been told that Lee and I are 'the' cute couple, so yay.

I guess, technically, I have seen guys with boobs, but that's kinda what happens in the trans community, especially when you're dating a trans man (although, for all intent and purpose, what he has are not boobs; they're tumors).
