And that human problems happen due to both genders against both genders. Feminists tend to see females through rose-tinted glasses. Good people and bad people can be found in both genders.

As am I - I apologized to my boyfriend for it the other day and he stared at me like I had just set my hair on fire.

Agreed. There seems to be overwhelming statistics that men are more predisposed to violence (perhaps from testosterone) but if anything women have only tempered their cruelty into something more subtle because society bid them to be quiet.

You haven't been to Newcastle, have you?
...or Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool...

No, I was raised by a Jewish mother who rarely yelled - except at my father - just glowered in such a way that made you want to dig your own grave.

I've long seen Jewish mothers (and Italian mothers) as formidable familial matriarchs. Of course, that's purely from TV/film dramatisations. Not many of either of those in my neck of the woods.

My family is too fractured to have a matriarch. My aunt thinks she's it, but no one pays a blessed bit of attention to her. Poor thing - she lives in her ivory tower of Los Angeles life and occasionally checks in on us lost souls.
More to the point, though - I've been arguing the egalitarianism of sexism for quite a while and no one seemed to think I was pointing out the obvious: that by continuing to treat men like they were inherently evil and/or stupid was just as bad as them doing so to women, and contributed to the problem rather than led to any sort of equality. Make it less shameful for men to be stay-at-home figures, you'll see more women become the corporate leaders instead. Stop acting like the man should take care of you if you want to be Ms Independent. Dave Chapelle cracked me up when he joked about how women complained that chivalry was dead. " 'You never take me anywhere anymore.' Bitch, you make more than me, you never take ME anywhere anymore." Stop bitching if a man opens a door for you (I've seen women throw a shit-fit). Stop laying blame and start taking what you want instead. That goes for all races, all religions, all genders - no one has power over you unless you give it to them first.
And in the meantime, don't disparage on those of us who like giving over power either.

I'm sending you a virtual hug because of everything you just said; one humanist to another.

Last time it was french kisses.
Also, it's hard to remain a humanist some days... People piss me off so much - that's why my chosen altar of worship is plants.

Kisses or hugs... one has to temper one's affections to unavailable women.
Do what I do and call yourself a humanist misanthrope; the two concepts aren't contradictory. You can appreciate the accomplishments of humanity, while still expecting very little from individuals on a daily basis. Bill Hicks used the same self-label.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
