So, I hear PZ's latest charge is that there are debates in the atheist community about whether women are just "fuck toys and eye candy for privileged white men" or equal members.

Have we been having this conversation around here and I just missed it? If so, I feel like I deserve to have my say, y'know?

I'm guessing the "debate" involves like maybe 3 or 4 sexist bloggers against a bunch of overreacting FtB bloggers. I doubt there's actually any sizable population of sexist atheists to worry about.

Or they're grossly exaggerating some minor slight; they do that a lot.

Judging by the FtB populations writings and personal crusades, the above probably is less a joke and more a modus operandi ala Night Watch.

That's horrible. Women are also good for cleaning, cooking(some of them), and taking care of the kids. Give credit where credit is due, I say.

Better be careful, FNM. Otherwise, PZ is going to come in here, think you're serious and use a screen cap as evidence of atheist misogyny.

On a serious note, I really do want to know where he gets this claim from. It just sounds bizarre and I've heard the statemen but nothing to back it up. Call me a misogynist if you like, but critical thinking dictates that when I hear something like that, I want to back it up with evidence.

Reading all this just blows mind. I was originally one of the people who signed on to that whole "Atheism Plus" thing. But then I figured out, "Wow, I really can't say anything in this forum without it being scolded for its supposed sexist/homophobic/transphobic/racist/whatever-else-ist overtones/undertones."

Like, I'm not a dick. I realize these are issues. But I want the freedom to speak my mind without having to fear some inevitable faux freudian slip, you know?

They're all anarchists, anyway. And they want you to read tons and tons of books by prominent paranoid activists so that you can "understand" the issues. -__- Like... you know.... "go to hell" is what I would say.

Makes me wonder how many other people feel that way. In fact, a whole second forum has started, largely inhabited by people who have been banned by Atheism+. Unfortunately, most of this forum is just people critiquing Atheism+ and I'm more than willing to bet that everyone from the main forum automatically dismisses it without actually reading it or considering any of what the people there have to say. If they talked very much about anything else, I might be inclined to join in, but seeing as how that hasn't happened yet, I'm just going to stand back, lurk a little and wait for the forum to get interesting.

Holy shit! Here's another one for you.

I thought I would give these guys a fair try. I had of course heard a lot about A+ through the grapevine, but I didn't want to judge them before I actually read what they were about. Well, now I'm banned for 24 h due to this. Somehow I guess I'm not going to take "time to understand the rules". Those fascist nutcases can circle-fingerbang each other all they want.
