Arma II Dayz screwed me over...

Arma II Dayz screwed me over...
I just bought Arma II combined opperations to play the Mod. Dayz.
I only played it for like 5 days, we got our own server and got a fucking global ban from Battleye. I don't play with cheats or hacks because that would defeat the whole point of the game for me. I've sent Battleye an email with all th einfo they need but they don't send email back nor do they reply. Fckn bastards.

Anyone else wasted money on this game? Or have the same issues?

Yeah, thing is if you made it private and password protected thats not really allowed. The people who made dayz don't really appreciate people negating the bandit factor.
I think the people who do make private servers need to make it " private hive" meaning its not connected to the people who moderate it and is very limited update wise.
I'm not an expert on how it works to be honest, might not even be the reason.

If you do manage to get the ban lifted let me know. Survived 11 days, the only gear I don't have is the NVG and that gun that has a thermal sight and I'm already alittle sick of playing the lone wolf. Had too many close calls to count.
I tend to stick to very low population servers to avoid bandits, not interested in killing other players.

Hi Raphiel, well the thing is, we didnt put a lock on the server or passworded it or anything.

The only thing I can think of that I did wrong was looting stuff from a hackers box. Me and my mates had everything! Navigation, NVG, range finders, AS50's with thermal and guily suits and shit loads of ammo. It says you can't get banned for looting stuff that other hackers have imported into the game, so thats why I did it. The game was finally getting a bit more fun when suddenly I got a global ban. And I tell you, IT FUCKING SUCKS. I feel ripped off. Me and my friend finally repaired an ATV. Didn't even get the chance to play around on it. Wankers. Didn't even get an email back or nothing for what it could of been. But if I do get unbanned I will deffenatly let you know! So you can join our gang.

Only thing I've ever driven is a bicycle. Very hard to survive by yourself but somehow I'm managing it. Hunting knife and canteens help. Means you don't have to risk approaching cities and villages for food as often. Also cooked meat restores quite alot of health.
Having a weapon that is powerful and rare but with easy to obtain ammo for really helps. Weapons that use AK or stanag ammo are golden. PDW easily best sidearm in the game as it is basically a rare uzi with an ammo type you practically trip over its so common. Having an AS50 is fantastic if you want to hunt players but for something as simple as survival it can be... problematic. Its ammo type is rare, its very much overkill for infected and it takes up room that could otherwise be utilized by supplies and necessities needed to survive.
I think my dream weapon would be L85A2 AWS. Legit, incredibly accurate, able to zero in, thermal, NV and to top it off ammo can be found in abundance. You won't be outshooting AS50s but with enough caution you can spot them over a vast distance and decide whether to just go around and leave them or take them by surprise.
I tend to be really stealthy and avoid other players if I can help it. If you take it slow and focus on survival everything else eventually sorts itself out.
Thats what I've found anyway.

Yeah, I play the same way. I've only shot 2 players. And they both were friends of mine. I thought they were zombies. My favourite gun is the DMR and silenced uzi or normal as side arm. You can use the DMR with NVG. The ammo I found for it is not so hard to find. Had loads. But I just had to have that as50 Tongue I just couldn't just leave it there! I had some much inventory space, so I just took plenty of 15 clips of ammo. My record on surviving was 16 days. Then I stept into a hacker server, got robbed, turned into a rabbit and then died. Fckn lame.
But like you said, I don't lik eshooting other players either. I almost got my humanity up to 5k. You get a heroic autfit when you hit 5k. I really want it. Don't know if you follow Frankie on youtube. I realy enjoy watching his vids. Not so much now since I can't play anymore.

How long have you been alive now?

13 days now. Spending most of my time searching frantically for heli crash sites that haven't already been looted with very little success. I found 1 or 2 but the loot was crap. Did find a FAL but I left it there. I mean why the hell would I want a gun you can only get the ammo for from a heli crash site? Just stupid.
L85A2 AWS, NVG, military coyote backpack. Apparently its four slots bigger than the ALICE. All I'm after now. I also want to get my heroism up to 5k. Then I'm not sure what I'll do. Explore, occasionally use my GPS to get to a village with a water pump, hunt.
What more is there after that?

Nice! your doing great then. The FAL is of no good use really. Only against other players. It's very loud aswell. Good thinking not taking it with you. You know you dont have to go into town for waterpump and just fill your cantines at lakes right? Good point not knowing what to do after you've survived for so long. I tend to find a server to stay and play on. Repair vehicles and stuff like that. Maybe learn how to fligh a helecopter!

To be honest I might wait for more updates before I play more. The risk you are asked to take doesn't seem justified.
The harsh penalties for failure don't balance out with the rewards for success. Most of the time the reward is simply survival so you're left feeling rather unfulfilled in terms of progression.
What does someone with all the equipment he wants stand to gain from helping others or venturing into infection infested areas?
Nothing it would seem. Just the expenditure of stamina, hydration and ammunition. Avoidance to the person who already possesses all he could wish seems a more intelligent prospect yet there is no enjoyment to be had from this.
The game feels slightly empty at present. The potential is there but it is far from realized.

I was thinking of getting Dayz, but from what I heard, hackers are gradually ruining any fun experience to be had with it.

Hope they sort that out pronto.

Yeah, you heard right. They tend to nuke towns or insta-kill entire servers... or this.

Yet another reason to avoid high population servers.
