Interview

RE: Interview
Since this is an open, anonymous forum on the internet, I see no problem with you using discussions here for your interview, and I do commend you for asking what everyone thinks first. I am, like the others, confused as to what you think showing these discussions would accomplish.

(BTW, you might not want to show them your thread on soulless, monkey men hypothesis.)

Yes, but be sure to show them the thread where you steered me away from ever considering joining the Christian faith.

RE: Interview
I don't think that it would take any special effort to point out a thread that accomplished this. I think it would be far more difficult to find a thread that didn't.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

RE: Interview
Wow... you have to show you're working on converting the heathens to join a church? That's just silly... I say if you want to point to this site as an example of your mission work, go for it, however, exactly how many of the heathens have agreed with you?

I'm actually a little put out that you think you are here to "work." You are not supposed to be here to preach, meaning convince others of your beliefs. So, I must ask what kind of work you think you are doing.
You guys ask alot of complicated and technically involved questions, spanning from general philosphy to geoagraphy, to Acient History, and everyone's fav Translation/lingustics of Hebrew and Koine Greek. Believe it or not I do not have all of this stuff at the tip of my tongue. I would say 90% of it has to be looked up. This all takes a tremoundous amount of time. (15 to 20 hours a week +/-) This is literally a part time job's worth of time. I am not here to argue for the sake of argueing I am here to provide biblically accutate answers and clarity for the questions you all ask. This involves alot of work. (for the lack of a better term)

I generally post in the Christianity section.

Nor do I think I would use online discussion forum activity on my CV if I was in your place.
Just say you enjoy discussing religion, theology, AvT, etc. with other people around the world via internet forums (fora).
If they want to know more, they will ask. But I'd be surprised if they wanted to inspect your work that closely.
The ''atheosphere'' is hardly something you average pastor or church elder is likely to want to wade through page by page...
she said, I said, she said, I said....

Indeed. What I was looking to do is to point to several theological arguements I have made in my time here, and allow them to judge whether or not I am complatiable with any of their programs.

That's what I was about to say.

Meanwhile, I have heard of people being shunned from churches (or at least a portion of the church's congregants) simply for being reasonable human beings.

I really haven't dug into Drich's story here and don't have the attention span currently since I have a sinus headache, but a good friend of my boyfriend got cussed over the phone by a woman from her church who didn't like that she was supporting gay rights and various other "liberal" things. Not very "christian" of her to be accepting and loving of all human beings, apparently.

But I wouldn't want to think you were going to do a mashup of the original posts which misrepresented what I said either.

What I am going to do is provide links to entire threads I have started and allow them to read or wander where they like.

But to think that a church of the all-loving* Jesus Christ kicked you out for being needy and yet you come to atheist forums trying to convert people to your backward believes is the height of irony.

*except gays, Samaritans, money lenders, artists and donkeys

This is one of the things I have been tring to get you guys to see. Is that there is a difference between Christ and the christianity those who worship Him offer.

In that you have to learn to seperate religion from God.

Whatever I wrote in here is for everyone to read, regardless of their religious/political/whatever beliefs.
Hence, you get a yes from me.

But I fail to see how any of your points has ever come across to an atheist.
You appear to be a standard apologist, creating/re-using excuses for the shortcomings of your religion.
Also, you seem to have one of those text-book conversions: "I was a naughty boy, did a lot of bad stuff, but then I saw the light and was convinced of god." I always thought these conversions were BS, but there you are.... and I sincerely don't think you're a poe.

I don't know how referring someone from a church to this website is going to help your case, unless to prove that you are actively trying to show your "worldview" onto those who do not share it..... even if not succeeding in converting anyone.

BTW, I didn't know church membership implied some sort of interview... I thought you just went there, gradually got to know the people, offer to help here and there, and, in time, you become a qualified member!
A general chruch membership doesnt. active service does. Again I am looking to teach. It would be foolish to allow some new guy to teach and not know what his beliefs are.

I think you'd do yourself a better service having them ask you questions in a written format and answering them using Word for spell check and having someone proof-read it than showing them this website. Just an honest opinion.
