So a lot of controversy has arisen over Romney's statement that he would cut funding to PBS. I actually don't think that PBS needs any government funding, but that's besides the point that I want to make.
The Budget for PBS is $455,000,000. The Budget for the United States Military is $711,000,000,000. Now if you divide the budget of the military by the budget of PBS, you find out that the cost is .00063 that of the military.
Further extrapolating, 365 days in a year, times 24 hours is 8760 hours in a year. So if you multiply .00063 by the number of hours in a year you find out that the cost of PBS is equal to 5.5118 hours of military spending.
That's five and a half hours of military spending for a whole year of PBS. If we are looking for a first and obvious place to cut a whole lot of spending, we found one.
