Okay - so every time NY mayor Bloomberg comes on to give an update he has this sign language interpreter standing right next to him. Now I don't have anything against deaf people..although they could accomplish the same thing by running a crawl across the bottom of the screen...but she is actually distracting from what Bloomberg is trying to say.





I thought I was the only one who found this annoying but....The Daily Show took note also, about 5:40 in to this video.

I think it's important to have someone sign for the deaf, but at the same time, this interpreter should know that she is distracting from the overall speech. They usu sally stick signers in a corner so they can look bored/benign. Honestly, though, that woman is an amazing signer.

can go the other way arround. like in the austrian parlament with helene jarmer, a deaf and voiceless member of the austrian parlament. it`s weird to then see the translater not doing anything at all.
