RE: Dishonored
@Napo: Jerkoff Someone's buuuutthuuuuurt~ Big Grin

Well Mass Effect 3 is the first one that pops into my head, Max Payne 3 as well, and I could think of some others if I really cared to but trufax is this: I don't. There's been other multi-platform games where the PS3 DLC gets delayed. I just think it's rather amusing that the PS3 DLCs are the ones that get delayed the most...and I am not referring to the usual 30-day exclusivity windows Microsoft jumps to get at, either. Bethesda, for their part, already came out and stated it WAS their fault but all the same, it's not the first time it's happened.

And then I typed all that up and re-read your post and noticed you had said "because of the reasons Bethesda gave." Fuck it, I'll post it anyway cuz I don't give a shit cuz I'm fucking tired.

It's somewhat worth noting that Bethesda didn't make Dishonored, they merely financed it. Arkane Studios are the ones who made it. Long story short, ask yourself three questions: Do you like Half Life 2? Do you like Bioshock? Do you like Assassin's Creed? If you said yes to any of the above, then you'll love this game. If you said no to all, your taste in video games is shit and go back to playing Wii Sports or some shit. Big Grin

No but seriously. If nothing else, give the game a rent at some point, or borrow it off someone else if ya can. This game is easily one of if not the best games I've played this year and this is coming from a guy who has no life other than to chat on this forum, scrounge for work, and play video games in between (fuck I need a job so bad).

And if you don't like it, well...I dunno. If you don't like it, I guess...get a CAT scan and make sure you don't have a brain tumor? XD

How witty.

Quote:Well Mass Effect 3 is the first one that pops into my head

Bullshit.

ME3 extended cut dlc was delayed for ps3 for, hold on, a week? OH SHIT.

Oh, and demonstrate to me a case for how it was due to RAM issues and poor programming please. Thanks.
FYI, I highly, HIGHLY doubt it was the case, seen as the extended cut dlc was a few cutscenes. Yeah, that's gonna put a strain on memory space up in here. Derp.

Quote:Max Payne 3 as well

Max Payne? Again, doubt it has anything to do with shitty business practice and memory allocation unlike Bethesda. Oh, and they released freebies as a sorry for the inconvenience.

Another game irrelevant to Bethesda's issues....

Quote:and I could think of some others if I really cared to but trufax is this: I don't.

Well don't feel too bad when you get called out on bullshit, because I'm calling you out on bullshit.

Quote:Bethesda, for their part, already came out and stated it WAS their fault but all the same, it's not the first time it's happened.

You're asserting this without first proving your assertion correct? As far as I'm concerned, it certainly IS (to the best of my knowledge until you show me otherwise) the first time a company has fucked up on DLC by overlooking a system's requirements.

Quote:And then I typed all that up and re-read your post and noticed you had said "because of the reasons Bethesda gave." Fuck it, I'll post it anyway cuz I don't give a shit cuz I'm fucking tired.

And I'll post what I'm about to because you were chatting shit and I feel like it needs to be demonstrated why.

Quote:It's somewhat worth noting that Bethesda didn't make Dishonored, they merely financed it.

Doesn't make a bloody bit of difference to me.

I couldn't care less, I'm pretty sure I'd love Skyrim dlc more, and that's why I'm not going to be considering it until I get it.

Violently so, no less!

apparently you're inducing a self-fulfilling allergic reaction however, because SEVERAL gaming developers have come out as saying that coding for the PS3 is retardedly difficult. I was gonna let this drop but hey if you wanna keep calling me a bullshitter...
http://news.cnet.com/sony-ps3-is-hard-to...n-purpose/
There.

Ooo, lemme quote it for you, too...don't want you skippin' over the good stuff...

Quote:In one of the most shocking and bizarre comments ever made by a company chief, Hirai, the brains behind the entire PlayStation empire, explained to the Official PlayStation Magazine in its February issue that Sony didn't want to make it easy on developers.

"We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that (developers) want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so then the question is, what do you do for the rest of the nine-and-a-half years?" explained Hirai.

Huh? But his explanation didn't end there.

"So it's a kind of--I wouldn't say a double-edged sword--but it's hard to program for," Hirai continued, "and a lot of people see the negatives of it, but if you flip that around, it means the hardware has a lot more to offer."

Let's see, we even have a quote here by Gabe Newell...
Quote:Valve's Gabe Newell said in 2007--long before Sony's decline started--that the PlayStation 3 is a "waste of everyone's time." He went on to tell Edge Magazine that "investing in the Cell...gives you no long-term benefits. There's nothing there that you're going to apply to anything else. You're not going to gain anything except a hatred of the architecture they've created. I don't think it's a good solution."
But what street cred does Gabe Newell have? He's only the co-founder of the company that produced the Half-Life, Portal, Counter-Strike, and Team Fortress series of games [games that are widely considered to be among the most enjoyable and memorable, not just of their time but of ALL time], and the online distribution powerhouse that is Steam.

In closing; several developers, Valve's co-founder, and even Sony's own Kaz Hirai have come out and said that the architecture of the PS3 makes it a programming nightmare. My case, it is rested.

RE: Dishonored
Are you still fucking serious Creed? You really want to go down this road?

Fine.

Quote:apparently you're inducing a self-fulfilling allergic reaction however, because SEVERAL gaming developers have come out as saying that coding for the PS3 is retardedly difficult. I was gonna let this drop but hey if you wanna keep calling me a bullshitter...

Straw man. Never once did I say developing on the ps3 is supposed to be easy. But that's why companies like Bethesda supposedly pay the best salaries to the best programmers. Herp fucking derp.

Still bullshitting, you're just aiming in between different goal posts now.

From your first quote:
"and a lot of people see the negatives of it, but if you flip that around, it means the hardware has a lot more to offer." - How much emphasis can I make on this sentence.

Wait, let's try again.

"the hardware has a lot more to offer."

Yeah, he's really slagging off the PS3 here. Last time I checked Difficulty != Bad.

Your second quote is quite laughable. Gabe Newell? Really? Well he's not biased in the slightest is he? Wait, let's see, oh wait, yes, yes he is actually.

Are you even aware this guy is an ex Microsoft employee (who's probably been programming Microsoft systems all his life so he's going to be an arse when it comes to programming anything else), and that his company Valve, is quite obviously Microsoft oriented. Aside from the PC games he's produced and ofcourse Steam (which are going to be centred around Microsoft systems who'd have thought it), the few games Valve has produced that are multi-platform are still bumming off Microsoft. Half life, while being out for Windows and PS2 at the time, the dev's decided that for Half life 2 they'd fuck off the PS3 completely and go all out for xbox. Surprise surprise. You want more? Guess who was the co-publisher for Portal? That's right! 100 points!!! BING BING BING!!!! It was MICROSOFT!!!!!!!! Did you know that 26/27 games that Valve have produced have all been designed for Windows. What does that tell you? Seriously?

Do you want me to find a quote saying how brilliant the PS3 is from a Sony employee? Because that's pretty much all Gabe Newell's opinion on the playstation is equivalent to.

So, unless you missed anything, you've taken a quote from a guy who's so blatantly up the rear end of Microsoft, and a quote from a guy who's said in no uncertain terms, that the architecture of the ps3 is simply more difficult.

So what.

You know what's funny? I couldn't give a flying fuck about any of this, it's not even relevant to the original point I made (but hey, I'll still call you out on your bullshit).

As a company, Bethesda have carried out poor business practice by centring their development around the xbox.

Now unless you're going to actually argue against my statement, we may as well just end the conversation, and let this thread die a slow and painful death.

RE: Dishonored
LMFAO! Yes, Microsoft-centric. XD That's why Steam is also for Mac and Linux, right? And why Portal and Portal 2 were PS3 as well? And also Half Life 2 came out on the PS3 back in 2007 so don't give me that bullshit that they "fucked off the PS3 completely." Completely my ass. NOW who is bullshitting?

And seriously? "He develops games for Windows, ergo he's a Windows fanboy?" Ok, sure, I guess every other fucking publisher and developer of video games ever must be Microsoft defenders, because who the fuck in their right mind would develop a game exclusively for Linux or Mac these days? Guess what OS most people have? Windows! Gee, it's almost like this is a business decision or something; to target the larger market! NO THAT COULDN'T BE THE CASE. XD

Oh also: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2012/07/st...ace-linux/

The part I think is most interesting is the perhaps-more-valid reason why: Because of money. Competition in the marketplace. It's almost like he's NOT a buttbuddy of Windows and instead he's just doing the business approach of going where the money is [or isn't]. And the money was in Microsoft platforms before so he went with that, and derided the PS3 which, big surprise, is the least-selling platform of the major three consoles. Maybe it was because it was prohibitively expensive for many people and doesn't have nearly the vast array of exclusive titles it would need to justify its cost, and maybe it didn't have that vast array of exclusive titles because IT'S A PAIN IN THE ASS TO PROGRAM FOR. I just gave you fucking multiple sources saying it's a pain in the ass to program for. THAT is where this all goes back is to me saying that Bethesda had said the reason for the delay was because the PS3 programming architecture is a pain in the ass. I am NOT saying you ever said otherwise, I AM reinforcing my point however that the likely reason for the delay is because the PS3 is overly complicated, which is the part you got all hurt in the buttocks over before.

In other words, no, my original post was NOT bullshit. The PS3 is a harder system to program for. It's actually true.

Deal with it.

I'm really done with this little pissing contest.

I'll reiterate what I fucking said earlier, because you seem intent on arguing something completely irrelevant.
