Science vs. Religion

Here's something I've been thinking about recently:
I hear a lot of people say that science and religion can coexist peacefully but I'm not so sure. I'd like to know what you guys think about it. It seems like religion/religious people will say you're interpreting their "evidence" wrong and it is a non deniable fact. Science is self correcting and will use the most recent information. Religion is also based on faith when science is based on evidence and data. I think science acting as a religion would stop all progress. Any thoughts?

Science is destroying religion and its bullshit lie by lie.
So no, the two cannot co-exist.

I don't even know what science acting as a religion even means, quite frankly. Religions rely on the fact that their tenets, dogma, 'teachings' etc are fixed and unchanging. Science is constantly moving and changing as it finds new things to discover. While people can become dogmatic about science to the point where it can seem like worship, that only weakens the definition of "worship" such that football, Star Trek and money become religions.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Science often conflicts with religion logically but it's possible for the two to not conflict that way. You have to make your interpretation of your religion unfalsifiable though.

I find that people can rationalise anything given enough time.
If they want to believe something then they will invent a scenerio in which they can seem to be reasonable and still believe in the unresonable.
One thing I have found with theists that there is always a "but what if....." get out of jail free card they can play.

Predictability? Isn`t that in essence an answere?
Why does the sun go arround the earth? The gravitational force of the sun which has more matter and therefor a bigger gravitational attraction holds the planet in it`s orbit, whilest it`s interaction with the centrifugal force, prevents the planet from leaving this orbit. The planets which themselves have matter also attract the sun which is why under observation the sun seems to "wobble arround" - because it rotates arround various points called the "Barry center".
The theory given for the answere might be a model based on what was observed and calculated, and therefor can be predicted. But in essence it gives a clear answere.
So do other theories and models.
