Pro-porn, anti-porn or in between?
November 30, 2012 at 3:48 pm
Recently a lot new studies have come out showing the damaging effects of pornography. Google it if you want.
I've also been watching a lot of those shows on Investigative Discovery. All these creepy cannibalistic serial killers, without exception, had some creepy weird porn obsession.
Add to that, the fact that porn features unrealistic women doing unrealistic things, skipping the whole mating ritual and standard social behavior, warping our expectations of reality.
Average women, like the kind in this forum, with one tit bigger than the other, love handles, flat asses get shafted (metaphorically).
Without going down that crazy feminist direction, is it fair to acknowledge that porn might have a negative effect on our relationships?

Easy, dude. I don't have a flat ass.
Yes, in some cases it can. In most cases, no. I prefer real sex over porn sex. Porn is just a stimulant for when I am alone or with a partner who is cool with porn. Interestingly enough, most partners I have had that had a chance to watch porn while having sex were more likely to pay attention to me than to the porn. In fact, I would say it was a constant.

I can't speak to peoples personal experiences, but I can say, the reading material is pretty serious beeswax.

1 in 10 men have ED right now. That's a big fuckin number if you add it up. 300 million men, with 30 million in the US alone.
The crazy thing about that is that the rates of ED in the US is DOUBLE that of the rates of ED in the rest of the world, going by these numbers. That's 1 in 5 men in the US.
And apparently, just abstaining from porn for 90 days cures ED and early bird specials.
Quote:According to psychiatrist Norman Doidge, a heavy porn user is not unlike
a drug addict who can no longer get high on the images that once turned him on. And the danger is that this tolerance will carry over into relationships, as it did in patients whom I was seeing, leading to potency problems and new, at times unwelcome, tastes. When pornographers boast that they are pushing the envelope by introducing new, harder themes, what they don't say is that they must, because their customers are building up a tolerance to the content. The back pages of men's risque magazines and Internet porn sites are filled with ads for Viagra-type drugs—medicine developed for older men with erectile problems related to aging and blocked blood vessels in the penis. Today young men who surf porn are tremendously fearful of impotence, or "erectile dysfunction" as it is euphemistically called. The misleading term implies that these men have a problem in their penises, but the problem is in their heads. ... It rarely occurs to them that there may be a relationship between the pornography they are consuming and their impotence.

I like porn... but I like real women far more.
Anyway, you would have to be very stupid to mix porn with how things happen in the real world... plumbers aren't that lucky in real life.

I have been watching porn of all sorts for over 30 yrs now so i must be seriously fucked up ....
Are you afraid of your sexuality ?
Or are you some distorted creep who needs to stay away from porn because that will push you over the edge ?

I haven't read any new studies yet. All of the ones I've seen in the past were pseudo-science done by conservative-financed "institutions."
Addiction to anything in most cases is bad whether it be pornography or bacon or Facebook.
I think most people can get along fine with it without it turning into major addiction that destroys their life. If it is destructive for you, seek help.

Fuck off... how can an addiction to bacon be bad? It is pretty much like an addiction to deliciousness itself... I NEED TO SEE YOUR EVIDENCE!

Sexuality is not about fapping to picture and video simulations. It's about reality. Real people, human beings, and everything that makes them who they are. As it has been since the beginning of life.
These health problems being linked to porn consumption look pretty real to me.

Media consumption is standard terminology in various fields, at least in my field of expertise.
Porn consumption is not such a big jump.
