You're assuming that I didn't stab the little one with an EpiPen. All the best chain smoking, beer drinking, peanut eating bus drivers are armed with them.

Because cars are not designed specifically to kill people, though some that have been notoriously good at it have been taken out of production or otherwise modified. On the other hand, guns ARE designed with one goal in mind - to kill. And unlike gun manufacturers (and theirminions in the NRA) car manufacturers have made efforts to make cars safer, and are continuing to do so. And our governments have made efforts to keep people out from behind the wheel of those cars who would present a danger to society. Very little effort, in fact, has gone into preventing dangerous people from obtaining guns and other weapons.

goodmorning orogenicman!

Yes vehicles ARE designed to kill...although they are not intended for that purpose alone.

One thing I emphasise with my kids is that if you are behind the wheel of a vehicle you have that potential. Best IF you are in TOTAL control than be at the whim of said vehicle.

No, they are not designed to kill. It is ridiculous to suggest that they are. Find a single vehicle on the market today that has in its specifications the specific design goal of killing people. You can't because it doesn't exist. But you can certainly find that goal in the design of every firearm.

Oh contraire mon ami!

I am capable of "killing" with my vehicle, bike or car, quite easily.

BUT

To compare my vehicle to that of a gun IS ludicrous!! Guns are much more efficient and less messy.

That is a crock of shit. Every firearm is not designed with the goal of killing.

For example this bench rest gun is designed to put holes in a piece of paper. Not to kill something.

It is capable of killing, but that is not what it is designed for.

Even military weapons like the AK-47 aren’t designed to kill. They are designed to stop someone from doing whatever it is you don’t want them to do. Sometimes they die as a result of being stopped. But to that effect firearms aren’t even particularly efficient killing machines. If they were more people would be killed in war than wounded. Modern causality numbers almost always include more wounded than killed.

After the Port Arthur massacre in 1996 the Australian government of the time enacted sweeping gun laws that severely restricted gun ownership and launched a massive gun buy back scheme that removed thousands of guns.

Since then there has been one "massacre". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monash_University_shooting

In the U.S there is an average of 20 mass shootings a year http://www.bradycampaign.org/xshare/pdf/...otings.pdf

But hey, you guys keep telling yourselves how much you need your guns.

What I mostly got from that article/listing is that there is a lot of gang violence and that Chicago is a terrible place to live.

You can also kill someone with your bare hands. Being able to kill someone with a car or your hands does not make it a design goal.
