Biblical prophecies - Are they any?

RE: Biblical prophecies - Are they any?
[quote=text
Thanks man!
4. - Global communications foreseen (Revelation 11:9-10; 17:8). The Bible prophesies that the entire world will see certain events unfold. The invention of the television and the deployment of global satellite networks during the 20th century allow news to travel the world at the speed of light for the first time ever. Remember that in the apostle John's day, news traveled at the speed of horseback.
"Revelation 11:9–10
9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. 10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormentedethem that dwelt on the earth."

"Revelation 17:8
8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

How the fuck does he make those text into foreseeing global communication?

Quote:Christians claim that the Bible has hundreds of fulfilled prophecies, and is proof of its divine inspiration. In actuality, these so called fulfilled prophecies failed, were false or weren't prophecies at all. Many of these prophecies are so vague, they can be attributed to different events. It's also a fact that the Bible was written many years after these presumed prophecies and their "fulfillment" took place. It's also fair to mention that nowhere in the Bible will you find countries such as the United States, Russia, China, Korea, Great Britain prophesied. Oh Christians will tell you that they are, if you know how to interpret the Bible.

Here. I have a soft spot for Swedes since Henryk Lundqvist is our goalie.

What do you guys say about this so called "prophecy"?

"45. - Israel would be partitioned by all nations (Joel 3:2; Daniel 11:39). This is another unimaginable prophecy! In 1947, UN Resolution 181 planned the partitioning of Israel. Currently, the West Bank and Gaza have been seperated into Jewish and Palestinian settlements. Dividing Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria are also being negotiated today in order to create a Palestinian state." - Raptureforums

Daniel 11:39

Quote:King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.

Joel 3:2

http://bible.cc/joel/3-2.htm

Quote:King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

Believers can see whatever the fuck the want to see in this bullshit.

Clearly "Daniel" is talking about Antiochus IV and there are no historical markers at all in "Joel."

Just horseshit. Like the rest of the OT.

RE: Biblical prophecies - Are they any?
The Bible is a book about prophecy. Or rather the Bible is prophecy. Usually when we talk about prophecy we think of foretelling the future. Not in a general way, like we might see in a horoscope. No, the Bible gives us specific details about the future. The accuracy of these details shows that the Bible is like no other book. But the word prophecy also means "forth telling" as well as foretelling, which means that prophecy is about God telling us the way of life we ought to lead. The way in which God foretells the future gives us reason to listen to God when he tells us how we ought to live our lives. Bible prophecy proves that God is right.

Something we need to understand about Bible prophecy is that it isn't like God looking into a crystal ball, reading palms, or any of the things that human fortune tellers do, seeing the future, and then writing down what will happen. That would mean God isn't in control of His creation; but He is. In fact Bible prophecy is all about God having a definite plan at the beginning of time and then guiding the writers of the Bible to tell us about that plan and events that will take place throughout time that will eventually bring that purpose to pass. That's Bible prophecy: God through His word telling us about future events that will happen in the future because He has decided that they will happen.

The bible is nothing but bullshit. Successful bullshit, to be sure. It is still conning morons after all these centuries to see exactly what they want to see....but still, at the end of the day, bullshit.
