Should pedophilia be legal?

RE: Should pedophilia be legal?
If someone brings up a subject as emotional as childabuse, especialy on a forum on which some mebers have children themselves. You shouldnt be suprised if people react emotional.
The term childish is also the wrong term to describe such a reaction.

There is no grey area. If you really and truly believe that, then I strongly suggest you see a mental health professional. I'm serious, deadly serious.

The age of consent should not be lower than 15. In my opinion, most 15 year olds have an understanding of sex and are able to give proper consent. I would not be comfortable stating the same thing about most people younger than that.

That said, there should be exceptional circumstances for couples where the age gap is small. For instance, I do not think necessarily that a 16 year old should face criminal charges because he/she slept with a partner who was underage (say, 14-15 years old). The law needs to be flexible.

There is a grey area. If you don't see that, I strongly suggest you see a mental health professional.

It doesn't matter whether there is a long lasting negative psychological effect on the child victim of pedophilia or not, as the OP states.

The bottom line is that it is a non-consensual act. Even if the child gives consent, they do not yet have the ability to know what the repercussions could be.

Quote:"I was 13 ... I felt like a big lady. I wanted it"

The above quote is meaningless. What if she was talking about smoking?

"I was 13 when i started smoking ... I felt like a big lady. I wanted it"

Do you think that a 13 year old is mature enough to make the decision to start smoking? At 13, children do not have the ability to make these kind of decisions for themselves.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

No there is not!!!!

If a 13 year old has sex with a 18 year old on a consensual basis this means she will not report him at the police.

Yet if one, because of that, abolishes the laws which prevent adults from having sex with minors, simply because "consensual sex sometimes happens" you are giving a free pass to sex offenders.

There is absolutly no grey area here!!!

You are probably only trying to annoy people here again and after klicking the "post reply" button, I imagine you cower together in a ball scraching:

"GOLUM!" "GOLUM!"

Calm down TGAC, I was only showing how stupid and unproductictive Chad's "argument" was by turning it around and asserting the opposite.

Earl, I have a lot of respect for you. Providing any kind of justification for pedophilia is nothing short of dangerous. These people are seriously disturbed and we do not need to supply them with any idea they could use to rationalize their sickness.

Just so we know what kind to unleash while you're hanging. Lol but nah this is unacceptable and messed up. Now lets just let it go at that.

Drugs, prostitution, alcoholism, violence.

More often than not, this is what happens to children who are taken advantage of sexually.
When I look into a face of a child, even one of 13 years of age, I get angry at the thought of someone using their little body for their own adult pleasure. I can't even bear to watch a child molestation scene in a movie because I get so very angry. I often want to become Dexter at that moment and dole out bloody vengeance.

The answer to the OP is an obvious no and in my humble opinion, it does not deserve to be asked. Alas, it is acceptable here on these forums to do so.
