Call of Cthulhu
Anybody here ever played Call of Cthulhu?
I've been looking into it, recently, after getting into H.P. Lovecraft's work.

I used to play a lot of Tabletop Role Playing Games. (DnD, mainly)

I haven't played it, but I wouldn't mind doing so.

I like tabletop RPGs... they are great for when you are baked with mates.

Yep. Pop in 'Ride the Lightning', select track 8, push play.

I'm actually running a Call of Cthulhu game on Friday evening. I would invite you, but you probably don't live in my area. Wink Plus you've probably already played the scenario I'm using. It's a classic.

I also play Pathfinder some Wednesdays. I'm new to it. I have played DnD, White Wolf games, Mutants and Masterminds, and Doctor Who: Adventures in Time and Space. Don't play the Doctor Who game. The system is broken. Instead, adapt the Doctor Who universe to the D20 system or something.

I'm considering ordering the rulebook.

Baked with mates rounds always seem the most fun... Until the next time you play, and you've forgotten what happened, and 3/5 of the people are dead and you're standing naked in a graveyard about to be killed by skeletons.

What area would that be?

I have not engaged in a tabletop RPG since high school.

Well I live near Birmingham... In the U.K. It's a shame that doesn't count: I'd have loved to join.

I played a few times a long time ago. It was enjoyable, but didn't knock my socks off. I preferred more classic swords and sorcery. Paranoia is a lot of fun if you're looking for something along the lines of Cthulhu.

Wikipedia Wrote:The game's main setting is an immense and futuristic city called Alpha Complex, which is controlled by The Computer, a civil service AI construct (a literal realization of the "Influencing Machine" that some schizophrenics fear). The Computer serves as the game's principal antagonist, and fears a number of threats to its 'perfect' society, such as The Outdoors, mutants, and secret societies (especially Communists). To deal with these threats, The Computer employs Troubleshooters, whose job is to go out, find trouble, and shoot it. Player characters are usually Troubleshooters, although later game supplements have allowed the players to take on other roles.

The player characters frequently receive mission instructions from the Computer that are incomprehensible, self-contradictory, or obviously fatal if adhered to, and side-missions which conflict with the main mission.

That looks pretty interesting, thanks for the recommendation!
