Socially ostracized and silenced

RE: Socially ostracized and silenced
Most people here are atheists because that's what everyone else thinks. But I guess even in Pakistan you have access to the media Wink. Religion is all about conformity.

I had to create my own access since youtube and almost all sites containing anything against Islam are officially banned. It's been tough to keep researching as things have gotten progressively worse - but thankfully there are still methods left one can use to browse everything.

Religion may be all about conformity, but conforming to a standard set of ideas isn't exclusively religious Wink

Yes, kudos as well and welcome. I can imagine how tough it must be for you being from your country. It seems like the Islamic countries are in their dark ages like Europe went through with the catholic church.

hello Free Thinker, I'm an ex muslim too.. youre very brave, unlike me who still keep my atheism a secret because I know the implications I would get if I announce it openly..

I will. Maybe we can share stories of our gradual move towards atheism or if there was a "turning point" just to see if there were any similarities in our routes towards atheism.

So far, only my family knows I'm an atheist. I'm working towards building up courage to do something more meaningful with my opinions and knowledge.
