You are NOT a Photographer

One reason I love my boyfriend is he is good at what I call "Perspective Ass Kicking."

Recently I complained that I felt my photography was sucking lately and that I wasn't improving, despite being able to shoot more with the arrival of warmer weather. David spends a good portion of his time on reddit, which is where I assume he found a phenomenally heinous site done all in pink and horrible spelling run by a woman who thought she was awesome at photography, assuring me it was indeed real and not a poe or satire. While i can't stand clicking on that site again, it did lead me to this: the great Perspective Maker.

Always remember that, to paraphrase Lewis Black, just like at IHOP there will always be someone there who weighs 300 lbs more than you will ever weigh, on the internet, there will always be someone 100% more batshit and unskilled than you are promoting themselves.

This is better than Awkward Family Photos.

I can't believe people actually had to block out photography studio/photographer's signatures off the photos. That means the person who took them thought well enough of them to put their own name on them. Holy fuck.

One day I watched a few Holocaust documentaries. Some projects for dealing with the aftermath involve extensive research and gathering to create murals or at least repositories of a person's or family's life, including known belongings, letters, and pictures. It was a way of telling someone's story through images, usually.

I'd like you all to realize that the internet serves this purpose for us now, and pictures like these are now on display, probably still attached to someone's name, somewhere, and 1000 years in the future someone will see you, expressing yourself that way.

Every now and then I'll listen to an old piece of music I wrote for the purpose of perspective. Some of them I just sit there in awe, like... wtf was I even trying to do here? Why is that trumpet playing out of key?

One day I watched a few Holocaust documentaries.

For a moment, I thought you were going to compare those photos to the Holocaust. That would've made for great left-field hyperbole.

Viewed all 107 pages. (scarred for life) I think the baby bump with 'shopped in fetuses were the most disturbing. No, wait, I KNOW they were the most disturbing. I think that what we can gather from these train wrecks is that hicks with cameras and GIMP, a photog does not make.

Turns out he didn't find it from reddit, but from a fellow photographer. He did learn about Latvian jokes tonight on reddit though.
