Speaking in tongues?

RE: Speaking in tongues?
And of course, should they fail the Drain-O test, then they have an E-Z-Bake Oven-made ready excuse for it: "God moves in mysterious ways!"

They've got a bullshit explanation for everything! Well, except for things that actually matter...

I dunno. These cons are people conning people who are WILLFULLY ignorant...would you REALLY actually feel bad about it? I'm actually not sure I would, and I consider myself a pretty decent, charitable fellow.

I'd probably con them with this shit and give the money to the American Humanist Association. Height of irony, right there...

Seriously, it sounds awful and it probably is but I'd probably be laughing hysterically the entire time I was doing it. Inside my head, at any rate.

There IS a lesson to be learned from these charlatans, though, one Penn & Teller have been trying to get people to realize for years now: If you're gullible, you're easy to take advantage of and making yourself extremely vulnerable.

Addendum: I wouldn't actually be able to con people like this, I have to state with seriousness. Knowing how many of them are the product of childhood indoctrination would kind of kill any actual desire I might have to try to filch them from their money. I MIGHT con them with religious bullshit and then immediately give it back afterwards and tell them what exactly just happened to try to induce some form of skepticism in them, though.

Who are you calling a con, and proof of your accusation.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Oh, please. Do you need more proof that it is bullshit than the fact that it is nearly universally total gibberish spotted by hillbillies at whatever they call those holy rolling get togethers? I mean, if it were real, wouldn't it happen anywhere and to anybody, not just in the South in baptist churches?

G-C is one of the aforementioned "fools."

I can kind of see him getting down on this silly shit.

I picture G-C as the old fuck in the white shirt.

Never been in a church where people were rolling around, and far as hillbillies go I'd take the worst one over a yankee any day.

So . . . you have never seen people speaking in tongues or you have never seen them do it in church? Because, really, I fail to see how your statement contradicts my assessment that the only people who speak in tongues are indoctrinated assholes in churches.

I'm sorry you feel that way about people with good schools and decent oral hygiene.

Of course he'd feel that way. People with decent education are probably completely a foreign concept to him, and how does that little nugget of human wisdom go? Fear of the unknown is natural?

Spoken like a true, intolerant southerner. You sound just like my grandparents. They're assholes, too.

Oh no, Shell. That's just another example of southern superiority.

Whatever you do, don't mention the Civil War.
