Ditto.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

It sounds odd, and frankly most real-world (so to speak) psychologists detest him, but his advice/reasoning is far superior to his detractors. He tells it as it is, in all senses. He doesn't sugarcoat things, and if there is no hope of recovery, he tells them and is honest in that respect. He also is non-judgmental, and does not make personal appraisals/values influence his reasoning. He further understands modern society as it is, and not how he wishes it to be. Tell me, which other "real-world" psychologists writes a book called "Life Code"? But no, they try and influence us to be Buddhist monks and push their subjective moral views/perceptions onto the masses lol.. I think most real-world psychologists detest Jerry Springer not due to his fame but because he's a better professional than they'll be in a million years and are just pussy loser envious people
FIXED that for you.

Yep. "Dr" Phil. While he is a doctor, he isn't a licensed psychologist and thus he cannot legally practise psychology. Dazzn seems to be ignoring this fact.

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke

Also, I think it is important to make the distinction between psychiatry and psychology because there is a massive difference between them.

Psychiatry has no moral claim either way; it's neither good nor evil.

A tool and method for treating mental illness; it's a human science. Albeit neuroscience is a natural science ("Bottom-up"), based on biology and chemistry, psychiatry is "top-down." I think psychiatry will be based off of neuroscience in the future. They'll "meet" somewhere in the middle with neuroscience having a way more accurate model of the brain, and psychiatry having a way better methodology to treat mental illness based on that model.

Better models we get of the brain, better will psychiatry be able to treat mental illness.

The difference between pseudo-science and science is that the latter works and testable so. Bitches.

It's essentially a pseudo-science based on subjective reasoning and judgments.

Yes it is very "evil" to make you stand and face yourself.

Mankind's mind is fraught with "pseudoscience" and as Hypatia once said "it will take much pain for them to be free of it"

Blame religion. Don't blame psychiatry mate.

Gotta love Back to the Future Heart
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
